Celebrity Living: Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Boasts World’s Most Elaborate Security System
In light of some recent stalker drama, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has chosen to move, along with his long-time girlfriend Priscilla Chan, into a high-security home, heavy with satellite dishes, just down the street from his old home in Palo Alto. Although larger than his previous four-bedroom house, the new home is yet another rental and surprisingly modest, especially for a young CEO with a net worth of $12.5 billion.
Although Zuckerberg has recently surpassed other tech moguls such as Apple’s Steve Jobs, Google’s Eric Schmidt, and stock brokerage magnate Charles Schwab on the annual Forbes 400 Richest Americans list, his real estate decisions don’t shadow those of the other names. Though his security system sure does.
Recently following a restraining order on a stalker, the new home is outfitted with a state-of-the art security system and is absolutely riddled with security cameras. Neighbors have stated that the immense number of cameras was installed as the young billionaire arrived to move in. The high-security system features motion sensors, alarms, and CCTV for around-the-clock surveillance. Although his house and its contents have been kept under strict lock and key, additional technology installed in the home has been rumored to include heated floors and driveways, an estate-wide server system (running a Windows operating system), and a feature which allows guests to wear pins that automatically adjust temperature, music, and lighting based on the guest’s preferences when they enter a room.
Built in 2002, his new 3,800-square-foot home has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and sits just seven blocks away from his previous home. Also, since Zuckerberg has been reported to be spending upwards of 16 hours a day at the, the new home has most likely been picked mostly for its convenient location – he is now just down the street from the Facebook headquarters.
