Haute Fashion: Exclusive Preview of Chloe Spring/Summer 2011 Collection
Fashion lovers of Dubai who adore all things Francophile gathered lastnight at the Clique Terrace, Emirates Towers for a private cocktail reception to view the Chloé Spring/Summer 2011 Collection.
Subtle and elegant was the message emanating from the collection; a focus on the basics – white, black, flesh tone with the occasional shock of color in the form of a scarlet red coat. Chloé creative director Hannah MacGibbon’s grown up approach to the Chloé girl was evident with a playful homage to the ballerina ‘Black Swan’ obsession currently sweeping the fashion world. That red coat would have been a welcome shroud to most in attendance due to an unusually chilly evening for Dubai. Models were on hand wearing the pieces giving the guests an opportunity to see the sophisticated collection’s level of detail up close.
British born MacGibbon is a graduate of Central St Martins, and was first brought in to assist her friend Phoebe Philo after Stella McCartney’s departure from the house in 2001. She has proved herself to be a very worthy successor in creating pieces that all the cool girls are dying to wear.
Cocktails flowed, Gallic delicacies were devoured (in a very un-fashion like turn I may have consumed far too much foie-gras) and the spectacular setting of the Clique Terrace afforded a view of the city and the final generous touch was a goodie bag with a off-white ribbon almost making it too pretty to open!
The Chloé boutique is located in Emirates Towers on Sheikh Zayed Rd., Dubai
