Haute Exclusive: A Look at Cafeina’s new Pop-Up Restaurant within a Restaurant
On Sunday, Feb. 20, Cafeina will launch a new series called Brunch n’ Bazaar. As Miami moves towards greater hautness, the concept is the first of its kind and set to expose the very best in local food, fashion, and music.
While Cafeina boasts a menu of cocktails and small Spanish tapas, Chef Leo, the resto-lounge’s executive chef, has created a delectable menu for all brunchers that includes both conscious nibbles and hearty hangover classics. Chef Leo is a former protege of Telemundo food personality, Lorena Garcia, and has previously worked in some of Miami’s top kitchens like Fratelli Lyon, China Grill, and most recently, the James Beard nominated, Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill.
Michelle Leshem of SuperMarket Creative initially proposed the partnership between Ivette Naranjo, Cafeina’s owner, and LaunchArte. Naranjo has wanted to include brunch at the lounge since its inception, but it wasn’t until Leshem’s proposal of the “Bazaar” that the idea took form. The new gallery will be the first resto-style seating for Cafeina, which is otherwise setup as a lounge. LaunchArte runs through the middle of May and if summer weather permits, the “Bazaar” will run through summer. Sundays opening will host 10 varying vendors, but that number will increase to 15 in the coming weeks as demand has increased dramatically. Naranjo is also now set on expanding the brunch session to Saturdays as well. Her initial dreams for Cafeina as the neighborhood’s daytime coffee bar are under way as the traffic in the local area increases.
