Golden State: The California Biennial at OCMA

If you haven’t been to the Orange County Museum of Art to see the California Biennial, time is running out — the exhibition of California’s most innovative and imaginative contemporary visual artists is coming to a close Mar. 13. With over 150 works on display and dozens of special programs and performances, catch it before it’s gone.

After visiting over 45 artists and 100 studios, Biennial curator Sarah Bancroft presented the exhibition late 2010. Throughout the state of California, she collected an extremely diverse array of art that included painting and drawing, film and video, installation, performance and dance, photography, sculpture, and sound and text-based work. Full of energy, life and more, Bancroft amassed an exhibition that showcases topics including politics, representation and abstraction, identity and social practice, humor and play, and performance and audience participation.

So if you’ve got a free afternoon or if you just want to see the exhibition one more time before it closes, make sure to get to the museum — after all, it only comes every other year.
