With the Boston Wine Expo taking place this weekend (Jan 22-23) many of you may have wine on the mind (and on the tongue and in your gullet). So if you have caught the vino bug and one weekend has just whet your appetite, feel free to continue the celebration of wine right on into April with the Boston Wine Festival.
The Boston Wine Festival actually pre-dates the Boston Wine Expo by two years, and its splendid 22 year history has built up a remarkable series in celebration of wine and the decadent food that accompanies it. Three to four times a week now through the closing reception on April 1st, join other wine enthusiasts at Meritage the Restaurant at the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf. Chef Daniel Bruce is the genius behind the festival’s storied history as well as Meritage’s remarkable menu. Each evening features a menu offering specially prepared by Chef Bruce to compliment the wine or wines of the evening.
Narrowing down the wide range of evenings available to those you are able to attend may be tricky. Select a favorite type of wine, a winery that has recently piqued your interest or follow after one of the nation’s top wine expert. Some of the upcoming seminars and dinners include Quarterly Review of Wines (one of the nation’s most influential wine magazines) Best of the Best on Thursday, January 27; Chateau Palmer’s Marketing and Communications Director Bernard de Laage de Meux for a seminar and dinner including an impressive lineup of their Bordeauxs on Wednesday, February 2; the Valentine’s Dinner Dance on Friday, February 11 including an all champagne meal accompaniment by Chef Daniel Bruce; and Shafer Vineyards dinner on Thursday, March 3 including a rare opportunity to meet Shafer Vineyards President Doug Shafer.
