Dior Unveils Christian Dior’s Night in Color: An Animated Short Narrated by Robert Pattinson
Dior unveils Christian Dior’s Night in Color, a Sylvain Chomet animated short for holiday 2026, narrated by Robert Pattinson.
To mark the 2026 holiday season, Dior unveils Christian Dior’s Night in Color, an animated short film commissioned from award-winning French filmmaker Sylvain Chomet, the creator of The Triplets of Belleville (2003) and The Illusionist (2010). It is a celebration of imagination, whimsy and craft — timed for the House’s most visible gift-giving stretch of the year.

The film tells a fictitious story inspired by key moments from the House’s history, weaving together the friendship of Christian Dior and Marlene Dietrich, the connection between Dior and Hollywood, and the design of the iconic Junon (1949) dress. At its heart is a nod to one of Jonathan Anderson’s earliest inspirations for the Dior Cruise 2027 Collection: the transition of cinema from black-and-white to Technicolor.

In the story, Dietrich is in Los Angeles about to begin shooting when the director decides to film in color. Hollywood makes a last-minute call to Paris, requesting a colorful Dior dress for her to wear on screen — and the House’s petites mains rise to the challenge, working devotedly through the night.
Chomet bases the new gown loosely on the Junon. Responding to Monsieur Dior’s affectionate name for the seamstresses — his “bees” — the filmmaker depicts them as skillful apian heroes complete with wings and stripy bodies. Each is named after an actual craftsperson who worked with Christian Dior: Yvonne Ansermier and Paulette Boncoure, petites mains from the founding of the House, and Marguerite Carré, known as Dame Couture, Technical Director of the Ateliers under Christian Dior.

Renowned for his distinctive hand-drawn animation, Chomet fills this imagined world with observational detail — from the ornate interiors of Monsieur Dior’s apartment and the lively disorder of the couture ateliers to the relaxed glamour of Dietrich’s movie trailer. The process mirrors the savoir-faire at the heart of Dior haute couture: countless hours of meticulous craftsmanship that read as effortless beauty.
Christian Dior’s Night in Color is directed by Chomet from an original screenplay written by the House. Robert Pattinson narrates; Josh O’Connor voices The Chair; LaKeith Stanfield plays Ron the Director; Louis Garrel is Christian Dior; Nine d’Urso, Nadia Tereszkiewicz and Greta Lee voice The Bees; Rihanna appears as The Lucky Star; and Camille Cottin plays Marlene Dietrich.
For the festive season, the world of the film extends into a collection of ready-to-wear, accessories and homeware, with scenes and characters from Christian Dior’s Night in Color appearing in Dior boutique windows across the globe.

Dior’s holiday short is less a product spot than a love letter to the petites mains — and a clean bridge from Jonathan Anderson’s Cruise 2027 Technicolor idea back to the House’s founding mythology. Pattinson, Rihanna and Garrel make it travel; Chomet’s winged bees are what make it stick.
