Tiffany & Co. and Daniel Boulud Just Opened Blue Box Café in California & You Can Book It Now
Blue Box Café by Daniel Boulud opens at Tiffany & Co.'s South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California for the first time.
Tiffany & Co. and Chef Daniel Boulud have brought one of New York’s most coveted dining experiences to Southern California, and it opened this week. Blue Box Café by Daniel Boulud at South Coast Plaza — connected directly to Tiffany & Co.’s striking new store in Costa Mesa — is the first California outpost of the celebrated concept, and it arrives with a menu that understands exactly where it has landed.

The Blue Box Café debuted at The Landmark in New York City and quickly became the kind of reservation people plan trips around — equal parts dining experience and full immersion into the world of Tiffany. The South Coast Plaza location carries all of that forward: the signature charm, the elegance, the sense of occasion that makes even a Tuesday lunch feel like a celebration. What it adds is California. The menu, developed by Boulud and his culinary team, is built around the exceptional produce the state does better than almost anywhere else — California organic flour from Petaluma County, apricots from the San Joaquin Valley, organic hen eggs from San Diego, seasonal fruits from Corona del Mar, dairy from Sonoma. The result is a menu that balances timeless elegance with a lightness that is distinctly, correctly Californian.

The experiences that made the New York location a phenomenon are all here. Breakfast at Tiffany’s brings together a selection of breakfast pastries made exclusively for the café, each one sourced with the precision you would expect from a Michelin-starred kitchen. Tea at Tiffany’s offers the full afternoon ritual. The all-day menu moves through dishes including Spaghettini au Caviar, Saumon aux Épices, Volaille aux Champignons, and Soufflé Glacé aux Framboises — French technique meeting California abundance in a way only Boulud can manage. “We are excited to preserve the distinctive charm and elegance guests know from New York while creating a menu that reflects the freshness, seasonality, and vibrant culinary spirit of California,” Boulud said of the opening.

For Tiffany & Co., the café is an extension of something the house has always understood: that the most lasting luxury experiences are the ones that engage more than one sense at a time. Together, the store and the café create an immersive destination that is worth an afternoon of anyone’s time — and a reservation well in advance of arriving.
