Tiffany & Co. Gives Its Iconic Bird on a Rock New Wings
Few motifs in jewelry are as recognizable as Jean Schlumberger’s Bird on a Rock. This season, Tiffany & Co. gives the design a bold new life. Under the direction of Nathalie Verdeille, Chief Artistic Officer of Jewelry and High Jewelry, the house reimagines Bird on a Rock across both high jewelry suites and, for the first time, fine jewelry.

At the heart of the collection is the wing motif. Graceful and sculptural, it distills the essence of flight into wearable art. Diamonds appear suspended in midair, while convertible earrings shift from dramatic drops to delicate studs. Each detail showcases Tiffany’s mastery of craft, from hidden settings to intricate texturing.

Two gemstone suites celebrate the brand’s heritage. Tiffany, who first introduced tanzanite to the world in 1968, now presents it in a striking necklace, bracelet, and earrings. Turquoise, a Schlumberger favorite, anchors another suite. A diamond-studded bird clutches strands of cabochon turquoise, culminating in a dramatic drop that feels alive in motion.

To mark the launch, Tiffany tapped model Abby Champion and house ambassador Zhang Ziyi. Photographer Carlijn Jacobs captured them in a dreamlike setting of clouds and open skies, styled by Katie Burnett. The campaign mirrors the collection’s spirit of liberation and possibility.
Verdeille describes the process as one rooted in observation—studying wings, feathers, and how birds move through air. That sense of freedom defines every piece, from gemstone birds perched on platinum to abstract diamond wings that seem to glide. Bird on a Rock by Tiffany & Co. is available globally beginning September 2.
