Trends can change with the swipe of a screen and true beauty innovation demands more than speed: it calls for vision, restraint, and a willingness to go against the current. Some brands chase mass production and celebrity buzz; others slow down, curate with intention, and tell stories that outlast the season. This is the space where rare artistry meets uncompromising quality, where every product feels like it belongs in a gallery, not just a shopping cart.

At the heart of this philosophy is Nanette Rickenbach, the founder of Solsoller, a luxury makeup and skincare brand that treats each collection as a work of art. From product formulation to global launches, her approach redefines what it means to create beauty that is both personal and timeless. In this conversation, she opens up about her inspirations, bold experiments, and how she is building a community that values connection as much as color.

Q: What inspired you to adopt an intentional, collection-based model instead of the mass-market approach?

Nanette Rickenbach: From the very beginning, I knew I didn’t want Solsoller to be “just another makeup brand.” We are equally a skincare brand, and my vision was to create collectible, story-driven capsules, each one curated like a gallery exhibit. This intentionality allows us to dive deep into a theme, control quality at an artisanal level, and give every product a narrative that connects emotionally. Mass production may move volume, but it rarely moves people. Our collections are designed to be timeless keepsakes, not fleeting trends.

Q: How has your personal experience shaped the way you formulate for women 40+?

Nanette Rickenbach: As a woman over 40 myself, I understand the balance between wanting performance and craving comfort. Mature skin has different needs — more hydration, softer finishes, and formulas that enhance texture instead of settling into it. Every Solsoller product is developed with these realities in mind, from breathable foundations to finely milled powders that flatter rather than mask. And in skincare, our focus is on barrier strength, hydration, and glow. It’s about celebrating the skin you’re in, with elegance and ease.

Q: Can you tell us about your latest collection The Hydration Bar™?

Nanette Rickenbach: This November, we’re unveiling The Hydration Bar™, a skincare-first collection crafted to nourish, restore, and illuminate the skin. Leading the ritual is Skinlit Bellini AM/PM, our signature “glazin’ milk” elixir, a true happy hour for your skin.

Powered by probiotics, it feeds the microbiome and helps strengthen the barrier, while enhancing hydration, elasticity, and resilience. With Niacinamide to visibly tone and calm redness, Hyaluronic Acid acting as a hydration magnet that plumps fine lines, and Coconut Oil wrapping skin in a soft, velvety cocoon, Skinlit Bellini delivers a balanced glow that feels as good as it looks.

What makes it even more special is its versatility, the silky texture wears beautifully on its own, but also doubles as a primer under makeup. And for mature skin like mine, it’s an absolute asset: it smooths, hydrates, and preps the complexion so makeup enhances rather than settles into lines.

Alongside it, Le Cocktail AM/PM, a concentrated serum with niacinamide, linseed, and sodium hyaluronate, unveils a luminous, makeup-optional glow, while Le Halo Boost AM/PM, our featherlight hydrator, amplifies radiance and locks in moisture with precision. Together, these formulas create a complete ritual for resilient, radiant skin from face to neck, the essence of The Hydration Bar™.

Q: How does your legal background influence your brand’s credibility and customer trust?

Nanette Rickenbach: Coming from a corporate law background, compliance is in my DNA. Before a product even leaves the lab, it’s MOCRA-registered, properly labeled, and aligned with every applicable regulation. That rigor builds trust: customers know they’re not just buying luxury, they’re buying safety, transparency, and integrity. In a beauty market where compliance can be an afterthought, our legal-first approach sets a standard.

Q: Biggest takeaway from launching in multiple markets early on?

Nanette Rickenbach: Launching in NYC, Brazil, and now Colombia within our first year has been exhilarating. Each market taught us something different: how storytelling resonates across cultures, how climate impacts product performance, and how to adapt retail experiences without diluting brand DNA. The key takeaway? Consistency of vision matters more than location. If your core identity is strong, it will translate anywhere.

Q: Why keep the focus on product integrity and storytelling rather than celebrity endorsements?

Nanette Rickenbach: Celebrities can generate a moment; product integrity creates a movement. I wanted Solsoller to stand on the strength of its formulations, design, and storytelling. Our muse is the real woman: the one who values quality, artistry, and narrative. By focusing on her and not chasing star power, we’ve built a brand identity that feels personal, not performative.

Q: How do you balance performance and subtlety in product development?

Nanette Rickenbach: For me, the sweet spot is creating products that deliver undeniable results but never overpower the wearer. A bronzer that sculpts without streaking, a highlighter that glows without glitter, that’s the Solsoller way. In both skincare and makeup, it’s about creating a luxury you can live in, not just pose in. Every formula is tested to ensure it enhances natural beauty, not hides it.

Q: How do you envision the Solsoller community evolving?

Nanette Rickenbach: I see the Solsoller community becoming a circle of women who share not just products, but experiences. We’ll continue curating in-person activations, intimate product previews, and storytelling content that invites our customers into the creative process. Over time, Solsoller will be less about transactions and more about belonging, a place where beauty feels both aspirational and deeply personal.

From its upcoming Hydration Bar skincare collection, Solsoller stands apart in a crowded beauty market by pairing artistry with authenticity. Nanette Rickenbach’s approach is not about chasing trends or star endorsements but about crafting timeless, story-rich collections that resonate with women on a deeper level.

As the brand continues its global journey, its heart remains rooted in the belief that beauty is about connection, confidence, and a sense of belonging through both skincare and makeup.
