These 5 Tips Will Make Your Move Easier
We’re not going to sugarcoat it. Whether you’re moving across the country or down the street, moving is a hard, stressful, and overwhelming process. So we’re going to make it a little bit easier for you. Having just moved myself, I’m giving you my tips and tricks that made the process a whole lot easier. These might seem like common sense, but we have a few hacks that should help you out.
1. Use Piece of Cake Movers, If You Can

Seriously, these guys are the best. Number one: they are affordable and trustworthy, which is not easy to find—especially if, like me, you live in New York City and people love to scam you. And even if you don’t, my friend used them to move across the country and store their stuff for a month, and Piece of Cake did it (for way less than other movers, I might add).
2. Get Your New Home Cleaned—Before The Movers Come
So I’m lucky and have an amazing lady who comes to clean that my whole family has been using for a decade, but you can also find cleaners on TaskRabbit, or other similar sites. Even if your new home has already been pre-cleaned, you still want to have a professional go in and take another stab at it. You might not see the dirt and grime, but trust us, it’s there. Also, have some cleaning items in your place for touch ups.

3. Use Vacuum-Sealed Bags & Duffels Over Boxes

4. Do The Rugs First
Rugs immediately make a space feel like home. Aside from that, for practicality reasons, it’s a lot easier to get your rugs in there and then add the furniture, otherwise you’re going to be struggling to lift your couch or coffee table and slide the rug under. We have a whole guide to choosing rugs and how to care for them.

5. Pay The Extra To Have Your Furniture Pre-Assembled (And Get It From Somewhere You Trust)
Unless you’re really feeling in the mood for a DIY project, pay the extra to have your furniture assembled. It’s worth it. The last thing you want to do when you’re in the midst of bags and boxes (and vacuum-sealed bags) is to be hunting for the lost bolt that you need to complete your dresser. Do yourself a favor and skip this step.
When it comes to choosing your furniture, look to Wayfair Verified. We’ve gone into more details on the offering from the furniture purveyor, but long story short, the pros at Wayfair got together and curated pieces that they stand behind.
