Brittny Button is Redefining Luxury Through Button Atelier
Blending her modern “cool girl” style with the sophistication of the vintage pieces she finds, Brittny Button effortlessly redefines luxury through her design house, Button Atelier. The former model turned creative powerhouse is authentic and intentional in everything she does, from forming her glamorous Formula 1 outfits to planning her designs for Hollywood’s elite. Button’s endeavors, like repurposing antiques and launching her own furniture line are deeply personal, rooted in her family history. In this exclusive interview with Haute Living, Button sits down to explain how she juggles her important role as a mother, entrepreneur, and fashion icon.
HAUTE LIVING: Your work with Button Atelier has been celebrated for its “accessible luxury” aesthetic, blending timeless elegance with modern functionality. How do you balance creating visually striking spaces that remain practical for everyday living, especially for clients like Hollywood’s elite?
BRITTNY BUTTON: It’s how I live as well! So, I ask myself the same questions on behalf of the clients. For example, is this room going to be functional and look good? Will this furniture item have longevity to stand up to wear from children and pets? Is it of quality and still have a classical timeless look to evolve with the family’s needs? I’ve found that applying this kind of livable practicality is refreshing for clients to hear. They tend to appreciate that I’m thinking through the usability aspect for them of not only the spaces, but the furniture and the overall design as a whole. Additionally, being married and living with a high-performing athlete (Jenson Button) and designing for them. I’ve noticed they want intense calm and respite within their homes, it’s the ultimate haven from the excess of their day-to-day life. They’re drawn to peace, so if I can cultivate that within their home setting, it’s a win!

HL: As a style tastemaker, you’ve brought a fresh, athletic-chic perspective to Formula 1 fashion. How do you approach curating your looks for race days, and what role does your style play in shaping the sport’s growing fashion narrative?
BB: Thank you for your kind words! It really depends on what the day entails – looking chic while on the circuit is definitely a fun exercise, literally! For Miami and Monaco GP’s, the ocean predominates as a key feature of the location so I often have my stylist pull outfits that contrast with the blue tones of the sea; like reds or are complementary and opt for tan tones, instead. Maybe it’s the California girl in me that likes the element of showing off some skin? Which means I gravitate towards styles that show off my body. Why not, right? Generally speaking, being on or near the race track means tons of walking and it’s really hot!!! They set up a mini city within a city and the asphalt absorbs and emanates heat. Meaning, I opt for dresses, skirts, shorts, flats or runners. For me, having style is a kind of power. I like to reflect a confidence in dressing that’s classical and timeless.
HL: Your act of collecting antique and vintage furniture pieces, since 2023, focuses on giving these reclaimed pieces a “Second Life.” What inspired you to do this, and how do you decide which pieces to restore to fit your vision of timeless design?
BB: My parents were avid furniture and home restorers, and I was able to learn from them while growing up. I even still have scars on my legs from replacing a wood floor during one of the renos! All of these experiences inspired my lifelong love for all types of architecture, particularly Art Deco and 1930s Spanish and Adobe styles. I’m grateful to both of them for this kind of exposure from such a young age. Now, it’s a full circle moment where I can repurpose homes and furniture items. Whether it’s a complete renovation of a house or reupholstering items to have another life. I just delight in the endeavor, it’s a great love of mine! In fact, my own furniture collection I’ve designed is coming out under the Button Atelier label, this Fall! It’s a dream come true!

HL: As a former model and now a prominent interior designer, how has your experience in the fashion world influenced your approach to creating harmonious and visually appealing interior spaces?
BB: This idea of narrative, when used as the theme for a runway show or fashion collection is a conceptual framework I use for design projects too. The kinds of questions I ask are: What’s the mood we’re trying to achieve? How do we best tell this story through design? Secondarily, it trains your eye for color, composition and an understanding of what it means to be stylish. It develops an expertise of what works stylistically for clothes and then how it can translate to an interior setting. Overall, it’s a similar concept, except furniture and decor replace wardrobe and accessories from a design standpoint.
HL: Balancing motherhood, entrepreneurship, and life with a Formula 1 champion, Jenson Button, must be a whirlwind. How do you juggle these roles, and what advice would you give to women aiming to build a career while managing personal and family life?

BB: There’s never a dull moment for sure!! I have incredible teams that help to maintain a balance both at home and with the design business aspects. Giving them autonomy frees up my time in every sense. For me, setting tight deadlines helps me finish tasks quickly, farming out deliverables to my teams to drive and being realistic on how long certain tasks take is life changing. To mitigate feelings of being overwhelmed, my strategy is that I don’t like to be too overly scheduled and am protective with my time. I want to be a present mother to my kids, partner and as a leader!
