Haute Brand Alert: Inside The Takeover of LESET (And The 10 Best Pieces To Shop)
LESET is one of those brands that if you know, you know. It’s all about quiet luxury, with perfected basics that elevate any and every wardrobe. Founded in 2019 by Lili Chemla, the brand is rooted in a system of mix and match sets, luxe basics, and seasonal hero pieces. We chatted to Chemla, who filled us in on LESET’s journey to the success it has today, where she sees the brand going, and, of course, her top 10 must-have pieces.
Haute Living: How did you get your start in the fashion world?
LILI CHEMLA: Before founding LESET, I graduated from Bard College with a degree in Art History and a concentration in contemporary photography. While I didn’t formally study fashion, I launched my first brand, LIANA, straight out of college—a hands-on experience I often refer to as my graduate school. LIANA gave me the runway to immerse myself in the industry, learning everything from design and production to branding and retail. Once I had a solid grasp on the business and a clearer creative vision, I relaunched as LESET, bringing with me some of LIANA’s best-loved pieces like the Margo Tee and our signature pointelle styles.
HL: What was the inspiration for LESET?
LC: LESET was born out of the need for a modern uniform—pieces that could carry you from day to night without compromising on comfort or style. I wanted to create a brand that felt considered but effortless. It started with the idea of elevated sets: matching tops and bottoms that looked polished together but could live on their own. It was about solving the “what do I wear?” question with ease, without ever feeling basic.
HL: Who is the brand for?
LC: LESET is for people who want to look put together without overthinking it. Our customer values quality and detail, but they don’t need logos or trends to feel relevant. They dress for themselves and are confident in the power of simplicity.
HL: Where do you see LESET in 5 years?
LC: In five years, I see LESET continuing to define what the modern wardrobe looks like—expanding into new categories and new markets, while staying true to our DNA of comfort meets style. We’ve built a strong foundation, and now it’s about growing smartly, whether that’s through retail, collaborations, or global reach.
