To bring this project to life, the brand, which is family-owned and run by 7th generation CEO Mathieu Roland-Billecart, called on the French-American interior designer Elliott Barnes and the architect Vincent Fierfort to design a guest house on its historic estate.

Barnes’ passion for art, design, architecture and history, and the relationships between these fields and the natural environment, formed the basis of this project. Each space, shape, and finish is expressed with innovative ideas that seamlessly integrate into the original site.

Barnes drew inspiration from the surrounding vineyards and the estate’s majestic century-old chestnut tree. The design integrates unexpected natural materials, crafting a palette of natural, eco-friendly colors, uniquely developed for the Maison. Among the standout creations: the wall covering, appropriately called ‘Winepaper’ for the ingenious way it combines hemp and linen with dried grape skins, and sourced from grapes hand-picked from the Clos Saint-Hilaire plot during the 2022 harvest; a glass tabletop made from recycled champagne glasses; a coffee tabletop made from branches recovered from vines on the estate; and an oak parquet floor, which mirror the land around the estate.

The new reception rooms, which include the Founders’ Room, honoring Elisabeth Salmon and Nicolas François Billecart, and the Louis Room, honouring Elisabeth’s brother and the House’s first oenologist.

A reception hall and a professional tasting room complement these exceptional spaces, where modernity
and heritage meet, much in the same way as the champagnes at Billecart-Salmon.

For Roland-Billecart, this project perfectly embodies the Maison’s values. “Elliott Barnes was able to understand our needs and work within the constraints of our historic site to create a place that reflects the heritage of our House, while satisfying the needs of our elite international clientele,” he says. “This new venue is multi-dimensional, rooted in our terroir and our history, and allows us to offer varied experiences to our visitors from around the world.”
