It’s a ho-ho-haute holiday season in New York this year — especially at the EDITION Hotels. Both the New York EDITION and its sister property, the Times Square EDITION, have partnered with unconventional designer Hillary Taymour of Collina Strada to create the 2024 festive tree installations.

In the tradition of grand festive displays within the city, and aligned to the playful sophistication of both brands, Taymour has crafted a whimsical decorative installation featuring upcycled materials to dress the classic trees within the luxury hotels’ lobbies. With a commitment to sustainability and creative expression, Collina Strada’s ethos naturally aligns with both properties.

The holiday displays feature delicate, ruffled fabric, reminiscent of the traditional tutus worn in seasonal ballet productions like The Nutcracker to dress the tree, as well as a warm velvet skirt, inciting a simultaneously contemplative and charming sentiment among viewers. The festivity is further enhanced by the decor across the branches, fashioned out of repurposed and upcycled fabrics from the most recent Collina Strada shows. From a distance, the decor creates a textured charm that adds to the tree’s spirited and nostalgic appeal.

Evoking a sense of timeless holiday tradition, the trees are crowned with a tree topper crafted from recycled pieces of jewelry, adding an elegant touch to the installations.

This project has been an imaginative opportunity to approach and engage elevated sustainability, and an organic development given our history working with both EDITION properties in New York.”
As is tradition for the hotels, both will also offer an exclusive seasonal cocktail crafted in partnership with Punch and Ketel One Vodka, at their respective Lobby Bars. Festive in the City is a holiday twist on the classic Cosmopolitan with a touch of cinnamon cloves, with a portion of the proceeds donated to a charity chosen by the design partner. For the 2024 season, Hillary has chosen Ali Forney Center, a nonprofit that provides housing to LGBTQIA+ youth, for both hotel’s charitable partners.
