Sunny’s Revives The Classic Steakhouse In Miami’s Little River

Sunny’s Steakhouse, the latest venture from the team behind Miami’s renowned Jaguar Sun, has opened its doors in Little River, inviting guests into a unique dining experience that merges a modern steakhouse with the spirit of a lively dinner party. After the much-acclaimed Sunny’s Someday Steakhouse residency at Lot 6, co-owners Will Thompson and Carey Hynes have transformed their outdoor brick courtyard into a sophisticated indoor-outdoor restaurant, where the centerpiece banyan tree and the buzz of connection create an atmosphere designed to be “felt to be believed.”

Sunny’s Steakhouse reimagines the classic steakhouse experience through a Miami lens, led by Chef-Partner Carey Hynes and Executive Chef Aaron Brooks. The raw bar is a tribute to Florida’s waters, featuring local gems like Treasure Coast Oysters and Royal Red Shrimp. Patrons can also savor USDA prime hanger steaks and a selection of American and Australian wagyu cuts dry-aged on-site, all seared over a live oak fire that fills the dining room with a rustic, smoky aroma. An array of steakhouse sauces, from classic Béarnaise to Pineapple Hot Sauce, complements these cuts.

New to the menu, Sunny’s pasta section, inspired by favorites from Jaguar Sun, includes offerings like Rigatoni with Spicy Pork Sugo, Duck Cavatelli, and Corn Agnolotti with Blue Crab and Saffron. Signature dishes such as Spice-Crusted Rohan Duck with beet vinaigrette, and a 26 oz Dry Aged Ribeye round out the culinary experience, promising guests a journey through innovative flavors with each bite.

Helmed by beverage veteran Will Thompson, Sunny’s bar program offers a playful take on classics with a “pick-your-path” martini menu and house specialties like the Green Ghoul. Signature cocktails include the Circus Permit (a blend of Mezcal, Lulo, and Elderflower) and Death in the Afternoon (featuring Absinthe and Rose Champagne). The wine list, curated by Director of Operations Matt Whitney, includes beloved regions like Burgundy and Napa Valley, as well as unique offerings from Baden and Swartland. Additionally, a no- and low-ABV selection caters to different tastes, along with a carefully crafted dessert wine list.

Set across 13,000 square feet, Sunny’s combines indoor and outdoor areas for an elevated yet approachable dining experience. Designed by Amy Butchko of The Springs Collective, the restaurant embraces industrial elements while paying homage to mid-century modernism and Palm Beach Regency. The courtyard remains a focal point with casual outdoor seating under the banyan tree, while the indoor dining room, complete with Murano glass fixtures and mirrored screens, is reminiscent of Vivai del Sud’s iconic works.

A private dining area for 50 guests connects to the courtyard through bifold doors, adorned with a mural inspired by Hermann Herzog, and mirrors Sunny’s overarching theme of understated elegance. Sunny’s Steakhouse is a carefully curated space where antique fixtures, hand-carved woodwork, and luxurious textures create an inviting ambiance, establishing it as a premier dining destination in Miami.

Sunny’s Steakhouse is a revival of what makes dining out memorable. Will Thompson describes it as “a dinner party” where world-class food, drinks, and atmosphere come together in a space that’s as welcoming for a martini and fries as it is for a grand celebration. Sunny’s has brought a piece of Miami’s vibrant culinary scene to Little River, delivering an unforgettable blend of sophistication, warmth, and magic.
