When you think New York’s luxurious hospitality scene can’t level up any further, The Manner says it absolutely can. The Chief International Design Officer Verena Haller, who brought us The Standard Hotel, a Manhattan classic, has collaborated with renowned Milanese architect and interior designer Hannes Peer to create The Manner, an elegant downtown oasis. Nestled on a tree-lined street in SoHo, the new property represents a distinct approach to hospitality, combining the best elements of a hotel, a private residence, and a member’s club. The Manner envelopes its guests with richly layered design, serene guest quarters, a refined sense of intimacy, and caring service. The hotel offers 97 rooms (including ten suites and one Penthouse), two culinary concepts from James Beard nominee Chef Alex Stupak, and two exclusive guest-only spaces.

Evoking a sense of ‘coming home,’ Peer and Haller have created a space with a warm intimacy by featuring a subtle interplay of textures, materials, and spatial composition, crafting environments that showcase custom handcrafted furniture with elegant brass finishes, rich woods, and soft materials. The thoughtfully curated design reflects an effortlessly residential ambiance featuring custom art and sculpture pieces throughout. The Manner forges its distinct identity characterized by its understated elegance that resonates with a traveler seeking a place to stay and an experience defined by impeccable service, thoughtful design, and an intimate atmosphere.

The ground floor features The Otter, an all-day neighborhood restaurant with a seafood-centric fare open for visitors and guests. A grand marble staircase takes guests from the lobby to the second floor, where they’ll discover The Apartment, an exclusive haven’t for hotel guests and their friends. The warm and inviting space includes a well-stocked cocktail cabinet and pantry offering complimentary drinks and snacks. Also on the second floor lives Sloane’s, a lush jewelry box that is ‘less a cocktail bar and more a nightly cocktail party’ that features vintage spirits poured amidst flawless acoustics. The Rooftop is set to open in Spring 2025, providing yet another exclusive space for guests and their friends, sitting high above the city.
