Having designed countless private and public collections, Franklin Eugene has cemented his status as a go-to fashion designer. He’s a well-rounded businessman with links to the fashion industry, film production, and other civic/charitable activities.
“Love, Gilda”, is a documentary feature film that Franklin produced in 2018. It told the story of famous American comedian Gilda Radner. Another famous movie he was involved in was “The Shepherd,” a movie set in Hungary that showed life in the country during the Holocaust. Franklin became a principal producer for the 2023 period movie entitled “Il Moro – The Moor,” a film centered on the first black Western European head of state, Alessandro de’ Medici.
In addition to Franklin’s involvement in the movie industry, he has a passion for fashion design. Through his website, he shares his rich collection of luxurious, fashionable clothes and other items. One of his collections is called the Tribute Collection, which he used to help people from India and the Middle East. A portion of the sales from this collection went to charities in those countries and regions.
Because of his work as a film producer, Franklin had to attend some major red carpet-events. When he does attend these functions, he often receives much attention because of his unique taste and take on men’s formal and corporate fashion.
For his Palazzo del Cinema 2016 global debut, Franklin wore a stunning tuxedo dinner jacket, which he had designed himself. This aquamarine jacket raised some eyebrows but generally got a good amount of feedback from fashion enthusiasts in show business. The following year, he wore an off-white tuxedo jacket, which again showed his individuality and style, which impressed a lot of people around the world.
With an undeniable love for classic Hollywood glitz and glamour, Franklin wears his own designs to pay homage to this era. He wears outfits that are menswear standards designed and styled with a little extra pop, like the black tuxedo he wore to the Venice Film Festival in 2019. The design for this tuxedo is something only Franklin can pull off; it had an eight-button cuff, sported his strong signature cut, and a boutonniere he designed.
Another head-turning design of Franklin is the half-back suit and “shirtless shirt” that can be seen here. He stunned everyone by wearing this design on the Sala Grande red carpet at the78th Venice International Film, his first appearance after the pandemic. He actually is wearing a shirt that he designed to only be detected by the French cuffs at the wrists. While the outfit was not appreciated by everyone who prefers a collar, Mr. Eugene noted, “After this appearance, there were all kinds of celebrity men appearing on red carpets in shirtless suits.”
His success is seen in his rich filmography on IMDB and his Instagram page. Franklin does not like revealing his future plans and instead wants his success to do the talking for him.
