Peter Philips On What A Strong Woman Looks Like For The Dior Spring/Summer 2025 Runway Show
For makeup extraordinaire and the Creative and Image Director of Dior Makeup, Peter Philips, one word rang in his ears when creating the Dior Beauty look for the Spring/Summer 2025 show—and that word was strong. Philips wanted to recreate what a strong, dynamic woman looks like in the modern era, ultimately telling the ‘legends of a strong woman’ through beauty.
For Dior’s Spring-Summer 2025 Ready-to-Wear runway show at the Musée Rodin, the makeup took center stage with a look that combined boldness and elegance. Inspired by the impact of physical activity on the face, Philips created a fresh, natural complexion with a modern twist that perfectly complemented the sophisticated and contemporary aesthetic of the collection. “I wanted to create the makeup look of an active and dynamic woman on the move who has just completed some physical activity. Her skin is bright and dewy, and her gaze is intense, highlighted by the remnants of a stroke of khôl liner,” noted Philips. Ahead, Haute Living went backstage for an exclusive, step-by-step guide on how to achieve the look.
The Complexion: Fresh and Sculpted
The complexion was kept fresh and healthy, with a dewy glow that radiates natural beauty. Philips began by prepping the skin with Dior Capture Totale Le Sérum and Dior Capture Totale Hyalushot for a smooth base. Dior Forever Skin Glow was then applied as the foundation, followed by the new Dior Forever Skin Contour in shades 01 Light, 03 Medium, and 04 Deep to add subtle sculpting.
For a flushed, post-exertion glow, Rouge Blush Colour & Glow in shades 100 Diorissimo, 200 Diorama, or 757 Wildior was blended under the cheekbones, bringing warmth and vitality to the face.
The Bold Eyes
Philips created a striking eye look by drawing a thick line under the lower lash line using Diorshow On Stage Crayon 099 Black, then smudging it to evoke the effect of makeup displaced by movement.
This intense look was paired with structured brows, enhanced with Diorshow Brow Styler and Diorshow On Set Brow for a polished yet rebellious finish.
The Lips: Naturally Glossy
Keeping the focus on the eyes and complexion, Philips opted for a natural lip, using Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil 000 Universal Clear, gently blotted to reduce shine and enhance the lips’ natural beauty.
The Nails: Simple & Natural
The nails complemented the understated elegance of the makeup look with a soft, natural finish, using Dior Vernis 108 Muguet.
The Hair: Chic Simplicity
The hair, styled in a sleek low ponytail, was adorned with a black double-ribbon headband with white trim and the iconic “Christian Dior” logo, adding a touch of refinement to the overall look.
