HotelPlanner is thrilled to be partnering with Hip Hop legend Flavor Flav on his brand new single “Everywhere Man.”
On an epic scale, Taylor Swift’s ongoing Eras Tour is demonstrating the large demand to attend popular music events. Music fans are willing to travel and spend substantial amounts on tickets, food, and lodging. Beyond mega concert tours, multi-day music festivals continue to proliferate, with more luxury accommodations growing in popularity beyond camping or RV options. There are now more than 800 music festivals across the United States alone, catering to different music genres, experiences, and audiences. Expect music tourism to continue its rapid growth in 2024.
Some well-known upcoming music festivals include Coachella, Glastonbury Festival, Lollapalooza, Sun Fest (which HotelPlanner sponsors), and the Ultra Music Festival. Held in Indio, California, Coachella hosted more than 500,000 attendees in 2023 and is expected to host even more this year. Already sold out, the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England, will feature a range of artists, retaining its title as the UK’s largest music festival. Lollapalooza continues to grow and is now held in seven countries, including the United States, Brazil, and Germany, hosting more than 100,000 fans daily in its 2023 Chicago location alone. SunFest, Florida’s largest waterfront music festival, held in West Palm Beach, will be celebrating its fortieth anniversary in 2024. It will feature the SunFest Creative Arts Village with an immersive arts experience. Founded in 1999, Ultra Music Festival in Miami hosts around 165,000 attendees annually and continues to be one of the United States’ most popular EDM festivals.
There are also hundreds of smaller music festivals across the United States that are more under the radar, including the Joshua Tree Music Festival outside Palm Springs, California. The festival presents a wide variety of artists, from funk, hip-hop, and soul to rap and indie rock. The festival is also known for its focus on community empowerment and inclusivity, with yoga classes and a healing oasis site with amenities like massage therapists and acupuncturists, to name a few. More and more festivals are now offering their own tailored luxury experiences similar to this.
Most attendees still stay on campgrounds for these multi-day festivals, typically using communal bathrooms. However, experiencing festivals in luxury is becoming increasingly popular. Many festival attendees now stay at a nearby hotel and commute to the festival. And many festivals now partner with nearby hotels, offering packages and amenities for festivalgoers.
Coachella
For 2024, Coachella will offer a bundle package with several hotels, including the Westin Rancho Mirage Golf Resort and Spa, located seventeen miles from the festival. The package includes three-day GA or VIP weekend passes, a three- or four-night stay, and Any Line Shuttle passes to the campground.
Glastonbury Festival
Located near the festival grounds, the Charlton House Spa Hotel is the perfect way to attend the Glastonbury Festival without camping. Although Glastonbury Festival does not offer a bundle package, a nearby hotel can be a more attractive option to be closer to town center shops and cafes and to avoid the large concert crowds and communal living.
Lollapalooza
Although Lollapalooza does not offer packages for hotels, its website contains suggestions for off-site lodging. Two nice hotels nearby include the Kimpton Gray Monaco Chicago, an IHG Hotel, and the Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel. Kimpton Gray is located .8 miles from the festival in Grant Park and includes a gym and nightly wine reception for guests. Half a mile from the festival, the Palmer House contains a gym and indoor pool.
SunFest
HotelPlanner.com recently partnered with SunFest and now offers a booking engine for all attendees at a discounted price. The site will compare hotel offers and offer exclusive discounts at premier hotels, including Hyatt Place at West Palm Beach and The Breakers Palm Beach, both located under a mile from the festival.
Ultra Music Festival
Ultra Music Festival partners with the Intercontinental Miami, a hotel in sight of the festival only 0.3 miles away. The Intercontinental features a live DJ set nightly at Toro Toro through 3 am most nights of the week. The hotel’s website includes the Ultra Miami offer. The Intercontinental Miami also contains a spa and gym, and its rooftop pool with VIP cabanas is the perfect way to relax in luxury.
Joshua Tree Music Festival
Joshua Tree Music Festival partners with several local off-site lodging locations, including Autocamp Joshua Tree, located 0.8 miles south of the festival. This location offers a twenty percent discount for festival attendees. Autocamp Joshua Tree provides luxury private airstreams as a form of stylish glamping. It also includes free bicycle rentals and an outdoor pool.
It’s an exciting time for the live music industry as millions of fans are now prioritizing music festivals in their travel budgets and are embracing in-person immersive experiences. Importantly, there are now a lot more luxury lodging options and upscale amenities to enjoy the music in style and comfort.
