Sarabia’s artistry serves as a bridge between tradition and contemporary innovation, a theme that perfectly aligns with Clase Azul’s dedication to showcasing the rich and diverse expressions of Mexican culture. The collaboration emerged from a profound connection between Sarabia and Arturo Lomelí, the founder of Clase Azul México. Sarabia’s artistic language, which explores the intricate interplay between craftsmanship and contemporary art, resonated deeply with the brand’s values and vision. As Sarabia eloquently states, “Talking with [Arturo] Lomelí about his philosophy for the brand and hearing all the stories he had to tell, I really fell in love with the project.”

The limited-edition decanter, a testament to Sarabia’s distinctive artistic style, comes adorned with a captivating array of folkloric characters and motifs that hold profound personal and cultural significance. On the front of the decanter, one can find crossed pairs of picks and spades, as well as the face of a two-peso coin from the year of the artist’s birth — a tribute to his roots and heritage.

Turning to the back of the decanter, we encounter allegorical portraits of a parrot, a rooster, and a she-goat, whimsical characters drawn from the folk and musical narratives of Sarabia’s native Sinaloa. There are two distinct variations of this masterpiece: the “Dorado” version features decorative elements highlighted in 24-karat gold, lending it a sumptuous sheen, while the “Color” variation recreates animal motifs in vivid green and red, accentuated with 24-karat gold detailing, creating a vibrant palette harmoniously complemented by Clase Azul’s signature cobalt blue.
The heart of this Limited Edition lies in the joven tequila, masterfully crafted by Clase Azul’s Master Distiller, Viridiana Tinoco. This unique blend combines unaged tequila with an añejo tequila aged in Russian oak casks, and another añejo tequila aged in amontillado sherry casks. Tinoco shares her vision, stating, “With this tequila, I wanted to represent the artist’s expertise.” Sarabia’s journey, from growing up in Los Angeles to experiencing life in Russia, ultimately led him back to Mexico, where he draws inspiration and creates his art. The three tequilas harmoniously meld to create a captivating blend, offering aromas of walnut and tangerine peel, accented by herbal undertones. The palate reveals notes of agave nectar, spearmint, and ripe tangerine, resulting in an exquisite sensory experience.
