If you’re heading to Napa Valley, make sure to stop by a cool new spot—the Housley Napa Valley Tasting Room, which happens to be owned by “The Real” host Tamera Mowry-Housley and her husband Adam, an award-winning journalist and former pro baseball player. Here you can sample the star’s two award-winning wines and area-specific products that the couple either creates, curates or supports. Visitors will also be able to label their own wine and support Alaina’s Voice, a non-profit created in honor of the Housley’s niece. We chatted with the “Sister, Sister” star about her new venture, what to expect when you visit and what she loves most about wine country.

What made you want to set up a tasting room in Napa?
The demand for it. A lot of my friends and fans would ask where our tasting room was when visiting Napa. We didn’t have one. So I thought why not?
Tell us what guests can expect when they visit?
More than wine tasting. A fun experience. An extension of the Housley living room. We love to entertain. Our guests are made to feel at home and relaxed. Families of children are welcome as well.
Tell us about the design and decor.
We wanted it to be relaxed, sophisticated and elegant all at the same time. I wanted our guests to feel hugged by warmth when walking in. I got the idea of the colors from one of my favorite Housley pictures. It’s the centerpiece of the tasting room.
Do you have a favorite wine you serve in the tasting?
I have two! Our Old Vine zinfandel and our red table blend Adam and Tamera.
How did you decide which celebrity wines would be included in the menu?
Well our friends who have wine :)

Tell us something you’ve learned about wine/wine tasting that others might benefit from.
Wine tasting is all subjective. Everyone has different palettes. So don’t be surprised when one person tastes spice and the other does not.
What are your favorite activities to do in Napa?
Ummm…duh wine taste and eat. I’m a foodie.
What wineries do you love visiting and why?
Silverado winery because of the wine and view.
Give us a metaphor for wine that applies to your own life.
Me! Lol. I heard from husband that I’m aging like fine wine! Don’t rush the process of growing older. Enjoy it. Savor it. Let it mold you into a better person. Let your life’s experience mold you into becoming a bold flavorful person with lots of character.
