Season 2 at Amabella’s Birthday Party

HBO’s hit series, Big Little Lies, is back for Season 2 in just a few days, and fans are eagerly awaiting the big debut of the series’ second run. Starring an all-star cast of females including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shaleine Woodley, Zoë Kravitz and Haute Living former cover star Laura Dern, the show centers around the five upper-class mothers of Monterey, Calif., whose lives come spinning out of control to the point of murder in the season 1 finale. Based on the book by Liane Moriarty, the cast did such a stellar job with the first series that the stars got the team to pull through the show’s second series, spearheaded by Witherspoon and Kidman, where the story will continue past the book.

While the audience anxiously awaits the season premiere on June 9th, HBO celebrated in anticipation of the big day with a picturesque backyard fête at a private estate over the weekend in Los Angeles. Taking on the theme of Amabella’s Birthday Party, the celebration included a larger-than-life princess castle and ball pit, colorful balloon wall, DIY cotton candy and gourmet bites, colorful cocktails, a DJ set by Este Haim and notable attendee spottings, including Shay Mitchell, Samantha Marie Ware, Cameron Richardson, Georgie Flores, Carson Meyer and more.

The playful afternoon came to its pinnacle point when Alyssa Edwards and friends took the stage for a surprise performance, dressing up as the “Monterey Five.” The beloved drag queens each took on each of the main character’s looks and ensembles, putting on a fun show and getting the crowd riled up for the season premiere as they celebrated the afternoon away in delight.
