CHANEL, FENDI & Karl Lagerfeld Host ‘Karl Forever’ Tribute In Paris With Pharrell, Lang Lang,...

To pay homage to fashion great Karl Lagerfeld, the Houses of CHANEL, FENDI (LVMH) and Karl Lagerfeld came together for a beautiful presentation and celebration, designed, directed and staged by Robert Carsen. Various videos played on stage, showing bits and pieces of Lagerfeld’s life, as well as messages from those who knew him, at the Grand Palais, where the event took place.

The audience enjoyed live performances from some of the world’s greatest talents, including actresses Tilda Swinton, Fanny Ardant, Cara Delevingne and Helen Mirren—who read pieces from his favorite authors, Virginia Woolf, Stéphane Mallarmé, Colette and Edith Sitwell—sensational dancer Lil Buck; world-class violinist Charlie Siem; Argentinian dancer and choreographer German Cornejo with 17 tango dancers and his 7-piece orchestra, hailing from Buenos Aires; celebrated pianist Lang Lang—who played on a Steinway grand piano designed by Lagerfeld for the esteemed brand’s 150th anniversary—and Grammy-winning rapper/singer/producer/designer Pharrell Williams.

Performing talents and the 2,500 guests, including Claudia Schiffer, Anna Wintour and Bruno Pavlovsky, were also able to take in the gorgeous exhibition featuring 56 enlarged portraits of Karl Lagerfeld taken by various, world-renowned photographers, and finished with his preferred color scheme of black and white with a touch of red.
