The West Hollywood neighborhood is getting another haute eatery, as h. Wood Group debuts yet another stunning concept, with Alice at the 1 Hotel West Hollywood. The restaurant + marketplace offers consumers a mixed-use space that incorporates a hip restaurant serving elevated breakfast and lunch specialties, and additionally, a market that offers fresh and seasonal products including wines, oysters and raw bar delicacies, charcuterie boards, gourmet canned goods and more.

Designed by John Sofio of Built, Inc. (who also just transformed the group’s newly-renovated Bootsy Bellows), Alice offers guests an open-format, cozy market + eatery with both indoor and outdoor seating. Incorporating the 1 Hotel’s ethos of sustainability and eco-friendly living, the space incorporates lush greenery, natural lighting, light wood finishings and mild, complementary pops of color in the dining room.

The kitchen is helmed by Chef de Cuisine Chef Geter Atienza, formerly of Broken Spanish. He’s crafted a vibrant menu of French-American dishes, ranging from an indulgent Croque Madame for breakfast, to a light Soft Scramble with caviar and chive, or a vegan-friendly Chia Pudding for breakfast. Lunch highlights include the classic Steak Frites; “Slab” Brisket Sandwich with rye, Russian dressing and coleslaw; Grilled Wild Shrimp caught fresh and dressed with grilled lemon, tarragon, peppers and a frisée salad; or the hearty Tortilla Española, complete with yukon gold potatoes, piquillo peppers, salsa brava and crème fraîche.

And for those on the go or looking for something lighter, there’s also a beautiful selection of fresh soups and salads utilizing seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, such as the Heirloom Beet salad with roasted beets, beet strings, truffle aigre-doux and pistachio gremolata; or the Chopped Salad, featuring smoked turkey, pickled baby corn, provolone, avocado, pancetta and champagne-herb vinaigrette.

The innovative cocktail menu was crafted by h. Wood Group Bar Director Justin Campbell, featuring an assortment of fresh cocktails that go hand-in-hand with breakfast and lunch—each named after an iconic neighborhood in Los Angeles. Favorites include the “Melrose Place”—Tanqueray gin, red bell pepper, habanero pepper, black pepper, lemon and saline solution; “Beverly Hills” with Belvedere vodka, cucumber, black pepper, rosemary, lemon and aquafaba; the refreshing “Silver Lake” spritz with vodka, strawberry-infused Aperol, rhubarb, lemon, perrier and sparkling wine; and of course the classic breakfast/brunch cocktail, the “Alice’s Farmers Market Bloody Mary”—a spicy concoction with tomato, chipotle pepper, celery, shiro dashi and lemon.
