Hermès has entered into a new territory and new age as the storied fashion house debuts its fifth New York location, this time in the city’s hip Meatpacking neighborhood. A major shift from its Madison Avenue counterpart, the launch into the new neighborhood signifies a welcome change for one of the world’s most iconic and historic brands. Embracing the paradox of Madison Avenue and the Meatpacking District, Hermès is exploring the energy of the city in an unchartered area, seeking to embrace new creative spirits and diverse cultures with its transformative location. The ultimate goal is to attract a new generation of young luxury buyers, enticing the group with a new and reimagined perception of the brand.

Located at 46 Gansevoort Street, the two-story, 5,330-square-foot boutique—which was once home to the photo studios of the legendary Annie Leibovitz and Steven Maisel—has been remodeled by RDAI’s architect and innovative designer Denis Montel. Paying homage to the city’s rich history and its development, the store incorporates rugged and industrial elements to juxtapose the brand’s most coveted items including the lust-worthy leather Birkin handbags, fine jewelry, leather shoes, haute couture, as well as a new array of products including fanny packs, scarves, backpacks and so much more.
The store incorporates earthy browns, drawing inspiration from the original Hermès flagship on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, with silver-grey cherry wood used to line the walls, sand-blasted furniture for a simple, yet sophisticated rustic feel, camel-colored leather, bronze metal accents and yellow bricks lining the façade.

Unique to the store and its younger demographic is a selection of one-of-a-kind Hermès objects, indicative of the neighborhood’s energy, including backpacks, hip packs, an Hermès bicycle and skateboard bag—translating the ultimate luxury brand to objects embraced by a younger generation.
To celebrate the grand opening, Hermès hosted an over-the-top fête, where A-listers like Victor Cruz, Emmy Rossum, Jason Wu, and Constance Jablonski came dressed to the nines to get a first look inside the highly-anticipated boutique. The interior was completely transformed, dressed in elegant red velvet draping, towers upon towers of decadent dinner offerings, and picturesque experiential rooms showcasing the brand’s products and more striking photo backdrops for the occasion. Guests were treated to endless pours of Champagne, live performances and more that kept the party going all night long, marking a truly memorable occasion and milestone for the brand.
Hèrmes Meatpacking is now open to the public, located at 46 Gansevoort St, New York, NY 10014.
