The evening begins in the lobby of the Opera House promptly at 6 p.m. At 7 p.m. the exclusive group of 250 guests will head inside the auditorium to enjoy a lavish dinner on the stage. The set of Jake Heggie’s holiday opera, It’s a Wonderful Life, is the backdrop for the dinner. Event stylist J. Riccardo Benavides will wave his magic wand and transform the stage into an opulent setting. McCalls Catering is cooking up a multi-course meal that is sure to impress.

During the dinner, two of San Francisco Opera’s most generous donors, John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn, will be honored with the 2018 Crescendo Award. The Gunns have been active members of the opera family since 2002 when John joined the board. This season the Gunn’s generosity helped make possible four productions: Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci, Tosca, Rusalka, and It’s a Wonderful Life. Afterward, the event will transform into a rocking dance party with tunes by Notorious.
