Embrace New York’s Rooftop Season With Midtown’s Latest Hotspot: Elsie Rooftop
Summertime in the city is upon us, and for most working New Yorkers, that means it’s post-work rooftop season. And for those situated in midtown, the perfect addition to the neighborhood has arrived: Elsie Rooftop.
Located on the 25th floor of the 1412 Broadway building at 39th street near Times Square, the space underwent a seven-million-dollar upgrade so the lounge and terrace can shine in all its glory with stunning city views. Owners Jacob Aini and Raizada S Vaid—who also created the Fashion District’s Refinery Hotel—as well as Isaac and Eli Chetrit, dedicated their newest project to famed socialite, actress and interior decorator Elsie de Wolfe. Delphine Mauroit of DMDesign & Architecture was one of the masterminds behind the high-end, yet nostalgic design style of the space, which includes high ceilings, antique mirrors, gold metal walls, a gorgeous hanging light fixture Versailles parquet flooring and a blue marble bar top.
“Elsie’s style had always been ‘light, air and comfort’ and it is in that spirit that we created ‘Elsie,’ began Mauroit. “[It is a] space that beams across the New-York skyline and, for a moment, let’s you live the life of the rich and famous in the Roaring Twenties. Our concept was to create a villa on the roof, inter-mixing various residential elements such as the arched doors leading to the garden to emphasize the penthouse concept.”
The delectable menu of light bites and shareable plates was created by celebrity Chef David Burke and his culinary team. The venue also offers a more extensive menu for private events and parties, catered by David Burke Catering Co. The menu features American classics with a high-end twist, such as grilled cheese with caviar, miso shrimp cocktail and artisan flatbreads.
“I’m excited that we have an opportunity to showcase David Burke food in such a beautiful venue with such seasoned visionary partners,” stated Chef David Burke. “I am also thrilled to introduce David Burke Catering Co. with Andrea Correale at Elsie Rooftop for larger events throughout the year.”
The upscale cocktail menu, which is an ode to Elsie’s historical story, complements the menu perfectly, with signature, bespoke cocktails including the Elsie de Wolfe—made with vodka, cucumber, rosé, lemon and sparkling rosé—the Windsor—made with vodka, strawberry, basil, lime and ginger beer—and the Colony Club—made with Mescal, Angostura bitters, pineapple agave and grapefruit. A hand-selected wine list is also available.
Open Monday to Saturday from 5 p.m. until close, brunch will also be offered later this year. For more information, please visit the Elsie Rooftop website.
