Although the Napa Valley Film Festival (NVFF) doesn’t take place until November, the seven-year-old movie extravaganza is making its presence known during the summer. Starting this Thursday, July 12, for the first time, the NVFF will host a special screening series at Charles Krug Winery. The winery, which happens to be one of the oldest in the valley and is owned by the Mondavi family, is a leading sponsor of the official festival, so it was a natural partnership between the two brands.

On the second Thursday in July, August, and September, a different film, hand picked by NVFF, will air on the winery’s lush, great lawn. Film lovers can sip the estate’s wine (made by female winemaker Stacy Clark) and indulge in pizza and snacks from the Charles Krug culinary team. As the sun sets, the movies will air under the stars. “We are thrilled to extend our partnership with NVFF through this summer film series,” the winery’s brand manager, Scott Black, said in a statement. “We hope locals and visitors alike will come out and enjoy a balmy summer night on the lawn filled with great wine and food, and this exciting lineup of festival films!”

The July film is the 2016 festival’s Juried and Audience Award winner, American Wrestler. Lead actor George Kosturos will be at the event and participate in discussion with the audience. Amanda and Jack Go Glamping is the August screening and Life in Color is the movie that will be shown in September. The respective directors of those films—Brandon Dickerson and Katherine Emmer—will be at the showings for a post-film Q&A. For film festival fans, it’s an exciting series that should not be missed.
