Soho House Could Finally Be Coming To SF

Last fall, industry insiders were in a tizzy because there was a rumor that Soho House, the elite London-based creatives-only club, was opening an outpost in San Francisco. Yesterday came the news that a developer associated with the private club had in fact purchased the old Armory building in the Mission District for $65 million.

The San Francisco Business Times reports that Benjamin Weprin, a Chicago-based developer who previously built the Soho Houe Chicago, has purchased the building. Located at 1800 Mission Street, the Armory is a very known property in SF. It used to be a S&M porn studio and headquarters for Kink.com.

Kink purchased the building in 2006 for $14.5 million and invested in extreme renovations of the space. Soho House operates in 18 different global cities, like New York, Malibu, and South Beach, and at each location there are multiple restaurants that are open to members and nonmembers. Although Soho House’s team has yet to confirm if its actually setting up shop in SF, it looks like the Battery is going to get a run for its money.
