Rachel Zoe On Box Of Style, Spring Fashion Dos And Don’ts, And More
Fashion mogul Rachel Zoe is paying tribute to effortless California style with the spring edition of her luxury fashion and beauty subscription service, Box of Style. Here, the designer, CEO, and The Zoe Report editor-in-chief tells us what goodies come in the box, her spring style dos and don’ts, and her favorite thing to do in LA in the springtime.
Tell us about the spring Box of Style. What’s in it and what makes it special?
For the spring edition, we really wanted to pay homage to California and West Coast style. I curated this edition with all California-founded brands to put you in that golden state of mind wherever you are in the world. It includes an amazing Palm Print Duster that I designed exclusively for the Box, Bonnie Clyde Sunglasses (designed exclusively for BOS), Kopari Lip Love, Kopari Rose Toner, Lili Claspe Rope the Moon Lariat (designed exclusively for BOS), and Jen Atkin x Chloe + Isabel Suede Headwrap + Choker (designed by my dear friend and hair genius, Jen Atkin).
What’s your process for curating the pieces for each box?
We tap into our network to source the best brands and seasonal fashion, beauty, and lifestyle finds for our members. Each season I collaborate on/co-design at least one exclusive piece for Box of Style that can’t be found anywhere else. I focus on statement staples that I know members can easily incorporate into their wardrobes to elevate their everyday look. I also make it a point to try the items on everyone in the office to make sure it works well on a variety of shapes and skin tones. For beauty and skincare, we always try to source clean, all-natural products.
What’s your favorite thing about California style?
California style evokes a very unique feeling–glamorous yet casual, polished yet undone, modern yet classic.
What are your style dos and don’ts for spring?
Spring is the time for transitional dressing. You can start to incorporate lighter materials and brighter colors into your wardrobe, and start to merge your winter and summer pieces. I love the look of a turtle neck or chunky knit with a lightweight floral dress.
What are your favorite things to do in LA during the springtime?
Walking down the tree-lined streets to the farmers market never gets old. I always appreciate the mountains and sky high palm trees—a true California view.
