One River Point, Miami’s New Waterfront Destination

River Point

When you think of luxury living in Miami, you might think of South Beach. Well, the downtown Miami area is making a comeback, especially the riverfront area. The Miami River, adjacent to Brickell, Miami’s financial district, has been the heart of the Miami since the city’s beginning over 120 years ago.

Known as a “working river” for many years, the focus is now shifting to a waterfront destination. The new vision for the river is a dynamic, vibrant district—like the famous San Antonio Riverwalk. Developers are now recognizing the once underutilized riverfront’s potential and creating projects that will convert the area into Miami’s new waterfront destination.

According to the Miami River Commission, the Miami River District includes more than 10,000 proposed residential units, three major hotels, 21 restaurants (with an additional 20 proposed), 25 boatyards and marinas and 16 historic sites.

One of the pioneers behind this revitalization is Shahab Karmely of KAR Properties, a New York-based development firm. Shahab, who has made a significant entry into the Miami market with acquisitions in excess of $200 million in established and emerging neighborhoods, has set his sights on the Miami River for one of his latest luxury developments, One River Point. With this project, Shahab is the first to offer this caliber of luxury, attracting an elite clientele to the area.

One River Point is located in a private, gated, riverfront enclave adjacent to the Brickell Financial District and Miami’s urban core. World-class cultural, dining and entertainment experiences are within reach. Accessibility abounds, including a strategic position close to I-95 with an independent entrance and exit allowing residents to travel with ease. South Beach is a short drive away and Miami’s International Airport can be reached in less than 15 minutes.

A rail hub in nearby Downtown Miami provides quick and convenient access to the neighboring South Florida cities of Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach, with expansion to Orlando soon. And, the Miami River flows at the foot of Rafael Vinoly’s towers, giving residents direct access to Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

Miami’s history started here on the riverfront. Miami’s first millionaires built their mansions and hotels along the riverbank. With the new developments, the riverfront is coming full-circle.
