When it comes to beauty, we all know one of the most important things to gorgeous skin is staying hydrated. To assist with a healthy lifestyle, Robin Erb is here to help make you look your best.
From her stylish Newbury Street location, Erb and her team of professionals offer an array of skincare treatments to get your skin looking its best. From a skin rejuvenating treatment to mini peels and collagen-plumping treatments, Erb also offers her own skincare line, erb+owens, which was created to keep skin glowing while staying hydrated during cold Boston winters.
We caught up recently with owner Robin Erb to discuss the essentials of beauty and how to protect your skin during these cold winter months..
What do you think are the basic beauty essentials every woman needs?
The best nutrient-based hydration for smooth youthful skin is erb+owens Dew Maker. (Just put it on the skin and let it soak in). For a highlighter, my all over favorite is Josie Moran’s highlighter or Benefit Cosmetics’ Watt’s Up. Finish the look off with a cream based all over cheek lip and eye cream color like Fenty Beauty’s Yacht Lyfe, and, of course, a banging lash stylist (me!) or mascara like L’Oreal’s Telescopic in Carbon Black.
Do you have some tips to help keep winter skin looking healthy and glowing?
Number one, find a knowledgeable esthetician like me to help keep the dull, dry winter skin from causing wrinkles with high grade treatments like enzymes and peels. I do all peeling in-house, so you leave looking better than when you walked in. Never do these on your own because you can do more harm.. Facials are old school and cause more harm than not, so stick with enzyme and peel treatments. A great serum-based oil treatment is important like erb+owens Starlight Serum along with a high antioxidant moisturizer loaded with Mother Nature’s miracle nutrients and oils like Dew Maker. Be careful with scarves and turtlenecks as they tend to cause breakouts in the winter. Humidifiers are a must in your bedroom while sleeping for great skin in winter to keep hydrated. Also, drink at least a half gallon of water a day to keep the skin dewy and acne-free.
Tell us about your skincare line and what makes it so unique.
I still hand make all bottles and balms, and I started making my own products for myself when I moved here from the south 17 years ago . I tried every $300 cream I could find to try to keep my skin dewy and hydrated in this harsh climate and nothing worked. I was only making $300 a week and spending it all on cream, so I started out on a journey to help everyone in a harsh climate keep hydrated. That’s how Dew Maker was born. I now have six products because I couldn’t find anything that worked for my needs. I am also on a journey of doing no Botox and fillers and it is past the time I should have started in my field of work, so I am trying to create a line that along with peels and treatments so you can prolong or never have to get injections. I use a Botox in a bottle like product (argireline peptide and hyaluronic acid) that over time has the effect of smoothing out wrinkles and lifting the skin. I combined them with all the miracle youth serums I have found in Mother Nature. For example, Borage Rosehip, Meadowfoam, date extract, pomegranate and sea buckthorn. I can’t give away all my secrets (laughs).
Any mistakes to avoid when it comes to applying makeup?
The biggest mistake is not trying new things and wearing none (laughs). Always blend! Beauty always starts from with your heart, soul (and stomach)!
