Named after the matriarch of those famous Wahlbergs with a nod to her nine children (you might know a couple of the younger siblings – actors/singers Mark and Donnie, who are also co-owners of the restaurant with their older brother and Executive Chef Paul), Alma Nove is the brainchild of one of the South Shore’s most celebrated chefs.

Located in the Hingham Shipyard, Paul Wahlberg continues to churn out dish after dish of creative fare at this Italian-Mediterranean haute spot that offers a beautifully bright dining room with high ceilings and comfortable outdoor seating complete with a cozy fireplace and front row waterfront view.

The haute restaurant recently launched a brand new menu where you can still find some favorites that made Wahlberg’s culinary talents shine on the South Shore (think lamb meatballs with coriander and mint, citrus-yogurt;; rich Bolognese with handmade pasta topped with mascarpone; and cod cakes with corn, tomato and basil relish topped with saffron butter).

Be sure to try one of the featured beers from local Massachusetts breweries like Barrel House Z of Weymouth, Cisco Brewers of Nantucket, Jack’s Abby of Framingham and Night Shift Brewing of Everett.

This is the first time since opening nearly seven years ago that Wahlberg has made  a change quite like this. We recommend trying the herb roasted cod with orzo, roasted tomatoes, capers and artichokes; or the wood grilled swordfish with squash risotto and roasted pepperonata.

The reinvented menu here also includes spaghettini with mahogany clams, garlic and chilis; pan seared scallops with fava bean and morel risotto accompanied by a flavorful basil puree; spring pea, ricotta and prosciutto ravioli with sautéed shrimp topped with yellow tomato-brown butter.; and a wood-grilled prime flat iron steak fries and charred tomato relish accompanied by their own A9 steak sauce.

Other favorites include a pork porterhouse with faro risotto and grilled peach balsamic chutney; as well as a juicy wood grilled rib eye center swimming in a red wine reduction served with a side of red bliss garlic mashed potatoes and Tuscan kale and parmesan slaw.

Be sure to save some room for a sweet treat like the chocolate layer cake with Godiva chocolate ganache and espresso butter cream or our favorite, the homemade tiramisu gelato made with lady fingers, chocolate chips topped with fresh whipped cream and a waffle cookie.
