Fashion, Haute Scene | September 8, 2017

Haute Living’s Fashion Editor is going behind-the-scenes to bring you the daily news and trends from New York Fashion Week’s top shows.

Tom Ford ss18

Tom Ford is back in New York showcasing his latest Spring 2018 creations and he really sets a sophisticated tone for New York Fashion Week. The calculated split between the bold shoulder goddess gowns and sophisticated athleisure sportswear came easy to Ford’s Classic aesthetic. Ford stated backstage at his show “It had to be luxe, and my women have always been sexy. If you’re wearing some leather pants with just a swimsuit, it seems like the right thing.” The ever-so-sheer dresses mixed with his signature men’s tailored jackets are going to be a must for all red carpet events. Ford is definitely back with a bang and his collection speaks volumes to his legacy.

Calvin Klein

Chief Creative Officer Raf Simons rings in his second season at Calvin Klein by celebrating its all-American roots. Raf takes a fun yet darker approach for spring, calling it  an “obstruction, of horrors and dreams. The  correlation to this springs collection is a mix between Amercian nightmare’s and the all-powerful American dream.” Simons describes the collection as “the coming together of different individuals, just like America itself.” This Spring you can expect to see precise tailoring, artsy inspired separates, and1950’s silhouettes, giving this collection a suggestive nod to a celebration of American life.

Ulla Johnson

Designer Ulla Johnson has truly mastered her signature style in this season’s collection. Her bohemian aesthetic crossed with a dash of street style really makes for a modern yet romantic look. This Spring, her soft pastel color palette and romantic flower patterns are counter balanced with suede and buttery leathers, which really makes a bold, yet feminine statement.

Narciso Rodriguez is back this season with a sexier approach to women’s wear. This season he highlights dramatic off-the-shoulder cuts, bold color blocking, and sensual back details, that will leave the working women feeling powerful and sexy. Season after season Narciso continues to show us that he really knows and understand’s the shape of a woman’s body  – you can see how he puts his passion and detailed workmanship into every single detail of his collection.
