A Look Into Krug Journey Southampton With Eleven Madison Park
Last week, an influential group traveled to the Hamptons to partake in Krug Journey Southampton with Eleven Madison Park’s Will Guidara and Chef Daniel Humm and jazz composer/pianist Kris Bowers.
The culinary, art, fashion, tech, and finance guests gathered to celebrate the connection between champagne, food, and music where Chef Humm specially curated courses to pair with an array of Krug champagnes and music composed by Kris Bowers to reflect the personality and qualities of the wines.
Upon arriving at the Southampton farm, guests were greeted with glasses of Krug Grande Cuvée 160th Edition en jeroboam and escorted through the kitchen to the outdoor patio overlooking the expansive lawn for passed canapés of hollowed melon with cured watermelon, oyster with grape mignonette and bulgur wheat, and strawberry and foie gras sable.
Guests later moved to the beautiful candlelit poolside table where they were warmly welcomed by Richard Beaumont and Chef Humm and poured Krug Clos du Mesnil 2002 to pair with Kris Bowers’s first solo performance, “One from One.”
For the first dinner course, guests sipped glasses of Krug 1998 as they listened to Kris’ specially composed, “Hommage,” a tribute to the vintage champagne. To complete the course, Chef Humm prepared Lobster with Corn, Chanterelles, and Black Truffle to pair with Krug 1998. For the final seated course, Krug Rosé en magnum was poured, followed by a lively performance, “Incandescent” and a dish of Lamb with Yogurt and Eggplant Purée and Chickpeas.
Co-host Will Guidara then invited guests to move back to the patio for a final glass of Krug Grande Cuvée 160th Edition to toast to the end of a fantastic evening.
