Look Inside Atlanta’s Brand New Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Atlanta Falcon’s fans and just Atlantans alike got to experience the much anticipated brand-new Mercedes-Benz stadium as the Falcons took on the Cardinals for a their first preseason game. And as much as we love our Falcons, eyes and attention were mostly turned to the $1.6 billion dollar stadium and all its accoutrements. Seating over 70,000 fans and boasting some of the most high-tech acoustics and commissioned art, we narrowed down for your some of our favorite and must see highlights at the new Atlanta stadium.
THE ART
Yes, we are talking a sports stadium here, but Arthur Blank’s vision encompasses a new type of fan experience and one includes commissioned art for everyone to see. While there are of lot of pieces in the works, the most famous thus far is the Falcon statue by Hungarian artist Gabor Miklos Szoke which captures “the moment of a touchdown.” The 73.000 pound bird stands (very) tall at the entrance of the stadium for all to see.
THE HALO BOARD
This amazing video board is the largest in professional sports. At 58-feet tall the board provides 63,000-square feet of screen to view live action, highlights and iso-cameras, this is the WOW factor that fans can’t stop talking about. But even if you happen to wander out of your seat or are taking in some of the other fabulous amenities, you still have little to no chance of ever missing a play. With over 2000 tv screens around the concourses and a state-of-the-art audio system, you should be covered. And if that wasn’t enough for the audio-visual lovers, here is more. There is a 100-foot high mega-column wrapped in LED screens for three-sided views.
THE RETRACTABLE ROOF
Although it remained closed for the first game, the retractable roof, when the kinks are ironed out, this impressive feature will open and close like the lens of a camera. Like no other roof in the world, this one is composed of 8 pieces, at 4 different sizes all moving at different speeds. Depending on the weather, the roof will be able to close in approx twelve minutes. Each of the eight pieces, called petals, all work together to create this indoor/outdoor state-of-the-art stadium for our city.
THE VIP EXPERIENCE
There are 7 clubs in this state-of-the-art facility that is home to the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United. From the Suntrust Club to the AMG Lounge, there are so many exclusive features for those who have already snagged their club membership. These ultra-VIP clubs feature private lounge access, exclusive viewing and access to players, best sightlines, all-inclusive food and beverage and a VIP entrance into the stadium. Both of these private clubs are located at field level along each sideline, located between the 45 yard lines and exclusive to only 300 Executive Member accounts.Photo Credit: COURTESY OF MERCEDES-BENZ usa
