Head to Paramount’s back lot for a ‘taste’ of L.A., including some of the best food and drink from the best chefs in Tinseltown.Opening night (Sept. 1) is a soiree that features a focused collection of tastings, distinctive cocktail and wine offerings, and a chance to party on the backlot with The L.A. Times’ hosts and the weekend’s participating chefs and mixologists. Restaurants include Baran’s 2239, Bourbon Steak, Chinese Laundry, Crying Tiger, Fat Dragon, Friends & Family, Georgie, Hatchet Hall, Lao Tao, Little Fatty, Mainland Poke, Scratch Bar & Kitchen, Side Chick, Simone, Tabula Rasa Bar and Tar & Roses. Throughout the weekend, there will be additional demonstrations including “Field to Fork” with Sang Yoon, the chef and owner of Father’s Office and Lukshon; “Dinner with a Twist” hosted by the chef and owner of Scopa Italian Roots and L.A. Times food critic Jonathan Gold; and a Sunday block party co-hosted by Sherry Yard, former Spago pastry chef and tour de force behind the Tuck Room Tavern.

JOHN WILLIAMS: MAESTRO OF THE MOVIES AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL
John Williams—the 85-year-old composer behind such blockbusters as Star Wars, E.T., Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter will headline the Hollywood Bowl Sept. 1-3 with his “Maestro of the Movies” concerts. Yes, this means you’ll be able to view your favorite films with a live showcase from the guy who their epic soundtracks.
