Weekend Update: Halle Berry Emerges at the 2017 Chrysalis Butterfly Ball

Hollywood stars emerged at the 2017 Chrysalis Butterfly Ball over the weekend, which brought the industry elite and celebrities together to honor remarkable men and women within the film, television and music industries who strive to help individuals out of poverty and homelessness by providing the tools necessary to gain employment.
The event began with a red carpet and outdoor cocktail reception hosted by Molly Sims and Scott Stuber, followed by a sit-down dinner, awards ceremony and a special musical performance by honoree Common. This year’s host was Empire star Jussie Smollett.

The 2017 recipients of the Spirit of Chrysalis Award included Common (Actor, Musician, Activist, Producer), Peter Cramer (President of Production, Universal Pictures),Rosetta Getty (Designer and CEO), and Balthazar Getty (Actor, DJ, Producer, Artist). The event also celebrated Chrysalis client Raymond Davis who received the John Dillon Award. This year’s noteworthy presenters included Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, Academy Award-winning actress Patricia Arquette, and Zendaya.

Attendees at the event, which was held at private Mandeville Canyon estate, included co-chairs Rebecca Gayheart-Dane, Rick Hess, Donna Langley, Josh Lieberman, and Richard Weitz as well as Ben Feldman, Brian Grazer, Claire Forlani, Curtis Stone, Daisy O’Dell, Dania Ramirez, Edgar Ramirez, Elizabeth Berkley, Eric Dane, Greg Lauren Jaime King, James Van Der Beek, Jason Bateman Jordan Peele , Lindsay Price, Russell Simmons, Shiva Rose, Soleil Moon, Frye and Vanna White.
Chrysalis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a pathway to self-sufficiency for homeless and low-income individuals by providing the resources and support needed to find and retain employment. Since 2002, the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball has raised over $13 million, which directly funds its programs and services.
