Although downtown San Francisco is filled with hotels, there are very few luxurious accommodations in the South Beach neighborhood. However, that is all about to change later this month when the Hotel VIA opens at 138 King Street. The 12-story hotel is directly across the street from AT&T Park making it an excellent place for SF Giants lovers to stay at. It will also cater to Warriors fans, as the future stadium will be opening in nearby Mission Bay in 2019. The name VIA was inspired by the definition of the word via which means the way to your destination. Guests should think of the hotel as the way to all the best destinations in SF. It has easy access to Bart, Caltrain, Muni, the Ferry building, freeways, and the Bay Bridge.

The chic hotel has 159 rooms equipped with forward thinking technology and environmentally conscious materials. State-of-the-art room amenities include triple play services—voice, video, and data, keyless entry, and the fastest internet possible. The design was meant to reflect its surrounding area, so it’s a mixture of modern elements, like lofty ceilings, and historic components, such as exposed brick. There are 11 suites, many of which have stunning panoramic views of the ballpark, Bay Bridge, and East Bay hills. No two rooms on each floor are identical. Instead they have unique personalities with custom-made furniture and a minimalist vibe.

The coolest thing about the hotel? “Hotel VIA’s most distinctive element will undoubtedly be the 12th floor rooftop lounge,” the VIA’s general manager, Barbara Perzigian, said in a statement. “VIA will have a magnificent hotel rooftop where guests can celebrate city life with unprecedented views of our spectacular cityscape and mix and mingle in an inviting, social atmosphere.” The roof has 360-degree views of AT&T Park and overlooks the bay and SF skyline. The 3,000-square foot rooftop was designed by C Walters and boasts an expansive indoor and outdoor lounge space with private draped cabanas, wind-proof glass, communal tables, open-air fire pits, and contemporary furniture. Although the food and drink menu has yet to be announced, it’s sure to be a hot spot on warm days once the hotel is up and running.

The property is also home to a breakfast cafe, meeting room, event spaces, technology hub, fully equipped fitness center, and communal workspace. An upscale lobby bar is in the works. The official opening date is up in the air, but the hotel is taking reservations now. “Hotel VIA arrives at a fantastic time to San Francisco’s South Beach neighborhood, where guests can enjoy some of the warmest temperatures in the city and have instant access to endless sights and attractions,” Perzigian said. “The boutique hotel will cater to a wide variety of travelers, ranging from international visitors, to ballpark goers, weekenders, and business travelers alike.”
