Drink of the Week: The Cocktail of Cannes is Available in LA
On the occasion of the 70th Cannes Film Festival, Rémy Martin, Official Partner of the Festival for the 14th year in a row, has unveiled its exclusive XO limited edition. Black and gold, the gift box plays with shadows and lights. This edition reveals all the elegance, the glamour and the mystery, of cinematic arts and the Maison Rémy Martin. The limited edition bottle—whose decanter wraps its new design with a glossy black coating reminiscent of film reels and is starred in a golden case, it seats on its throne, at the top of the stairs, just like the famous Palm award—was specifically designed for Cannes 2017. Its gift box features the bottle design under the spotlight on one side and mirrors a film poster on the other, recording the Cellar Master names, director and producer of this exceptional product. The bottle will be available by special order at $200 per bottle.
If you aren’t lucky enough to see this new design in the flesh at Cannes, you can still enjoy a taste of the French Riviera right at home in L.A. Rémy Martin worked with Los Angeles-based mixologist Dustin Newsome to create The Outfit, a cocktail inspired by the iconic Cognac sidecar cocktail the brand is honoring for May and June 2017. The cocktail will be served Bar Clacson, recently opened by 213 hospitality founders Cedd Moses and Eric Needleman as well as Eric Alperin and Richard Boccato downtown on South Broadway.
The Sidecar cocktail holds a very special place in Cognac history as one of the very first popular classic Cognac cocktails. Although the cognac Sidecar has a disputed history, Rémy Martin believes it was created at Bar Hemingway at the Hôtel Ritz in Paris. The iconic libation is traditionally made with Cognac, orange liqueur and lemon juice.
Isn’t it nice to know that even if you can’t walk the walk of Cannes, you still can drink the drink?
