Weekend Roundup: The Must-Attend Foodie Charity Event of the Season
If you’re a food-loving Angeleno, your mouth is probably about to water. On May 3, four world-famous chefs—Wolfgang Puck, Roy Choi, Nancy Silverton and Massimo Bottura—will join forces in the kitchen to create an unforgettable gastronomic extravaganza.
These master chefs—including Puck, the emperor of the Wolfgang Puck empire; James Beard’s 2014 Outstanding Chef winner Silverton of Osteria Mozza, Pizzeria Mozza and chi SPACCA fame; Choi, the best-selling NY Times author, co-owner, co-founder and chef of Kogi BBQ, Chego!, A-Frame, Commissary, POT and LocoL who was included in the 2016 TIME 100 Most Influential People in the World list; and Bottura, whose three-Michelin-starred restaurant Osteria Francescana, located in his Italian hometown of Modena, was ranked no.1 on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2016— will come together at Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air for a $500 charity dinner in partnership with the Los Angeles Times Food Bowl.
Chef Hugo Bolanos, executive chef of Hotel Bel-Air, will join Chef Puck in preparing two courses, with Chef Choi and Chef Bottura also preparing courses that showcase their individual culinary talents. The six-course menu will feature an amazing diversity of tastes and styles, including mouth-watering offerings like Italian risotto with aged Parmigiano Reggiano, Moroccan lamb, Alaskan salmon, and marbled Snake River Farms beef. This collaborative, six-course gourmet meal will include selected wine pairings from Ca’ del Bosco.
Part of the proceeds will be donated to non-profit organizations Food for Soul—a non-profit organization founded by chef Massimo Bottura to promote social awareness about food waste and hunger by creating inspiring community kitchens in collaboration with chefs, artisans, food suppliers, artists, designers and institutions in which menus from surplus ingredients are served to the homeless—and Chefs To End Hunger, a non-profit which provides meals to the hungry by redistributing the excess prepared food that would normally go to waste in hotels, restaurants, and other foodservice operations to local food agencies to serve the meals.
Reservations for this culinary bacchanalia are now available. Reservations can be made at 310.909.1644.
