Taylor Swift’s Home Away from Home is for Sale
Renovations—they’re an unescapable mainstay of New York life, like rush-hour traffic snafus and wait lists for luxury bags. Even if you’re a mega rock star like Taylor Swift, you can’t avoid them. But if you live in the superstar stratosphere, you can make a house reboot somewhat painless—you just move to another fabulous locale while your primary fabulous locale is getting its makeover. As Swift’s Tribeca pad was being remodeled, she decamped to a gorgeous home away from hone–a carriage house built in 1912 with its own indoor pool (the pool room even has its own chandelier!) The property, recently listed by Corcoran, is now for sale for $24.5 million.
Perhaps more importantly the Cornelia Street home offered was plenty of room for Swift to entertain her pals and family—the 21′ wide townhouse has spacious reception rooms and 5 bedrooms. The carriage house is also rich in architectural details with double-height ceilings, three original fireplaces, hardwood floors and Basalt stone tile floor in the pool area. The pool itself measures approximately 30′ by 15′ and is 5. 5′ deep.
If you decide to buy, here’s a floor-by-floor rundown of what you’ll get. On the first level the “salon” area, thanks to the double-height ceiling offers, provides ample room for art displays. The room even has its own exterior patio, as well as a Murano glass chandelier, candle light fixtures and fireplace. Also on the first level is a studio with bathroom that can function as a guest suite. On the second floor there’s a living room with high beamed ceilings, Russian Ipe wood floors, and leaded glass windows. Antique bricks from Paris, another Murano chandler and Lalique light fixtures enrich the dining space. There is also a private bedroom/home office with a full bath and a separate entrance.
The third floor features double master suites—one of the suites has has custom floor-to-ceiling windows facing Cornelia Street, a large closet and full bathroom; the grand master offers two entrances and a dual sink bathroom with two entrances. There is also a separate bathing area with marble floors connected to a private north-facing terrace with an outdoor gas fireplace.
On the roof there’s a terrace with sweeping city views and an outdoor kitchen with built-in BBQ and Jacuzzi. The home offers a private garage, too. Comes in handy when you need to outrun the paps!
