Quick Hits: The Museum of Ice Cream LA is a Sweet Success
Are you ready to live out your childhood fantasies? Get ready to do so this spring at The Museum of Ice Cream, the place where whimsical ideas and products are transformed into real life experiences. Its mission is to design environments that bring people together and provoke imagination.
This ode to everything good and creamy officially opens its doors in L.A. this month after a sold-out run in New York City (it sold out in five days and attracted a waitlist of over 200,000). So what can the west coast expect from MOICLA?

First off, the Los Angeles location is four times larger than the New York City incarnation and showcases ten completely reimagined installations. Interactive highlights include a “banana split” comprised of ten thousand “bananas”, a mint “grow house”, a room dedicated to California, a melted popsicle jungle and more. The iconic swimmable sprinkle pool returns filled with one hundred million sprinkles that just beg to be jumped in.
Make sure to come hungry and with your sweet tooth polished as well. Throughout its residency, the Museum will showcase on rotation one “scoop of the week” from coveted creameries in California including McConnell’s , Salt & Straw, Coolhaus x Cuisinart and CREAM. Additionally, there will be a special mochi ice cream tasting from My/Mo .
To heighten the olfactory and taste experience, the Museum—the brainchild of Maryellis Bunn—worked with the scientists at International Flavors & Fragrances to develop ice cream inspired scents and flavors. All of these experiences lead to the unveiling of over 30 new shoppable ice cream products including custom sprinkles, scoopers, kadima, ping pong tables and more.
Museum of Ice Cream is open from April 22 until May 29 from 11am-10pm, Wednesday-Monday and is located at 2018 E 7th Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90021.
