Where to Watch the Super Bowl; Caviar Company to Open on Union Street

Hello February! It’s time to turn our attention toward the Super Bowl and all things Valentine’s Day, but before we do here is the news you need to know: what’s haute and happening in the Bay Area right now.

Where to Watch the Super Bowl

The Rambler, one of our favorite new downtown restaurants, is having a Super Bowl fiesta in the game room at the Hotel Zeppelin. The game will be shown on three big screens and a ticket gets you unlimited access to snacks like wood-fired pizza and brined chicken wings with chile de arbol and lime crema. A DJ will spin before and after the main event and guests are invited to play pool, shuffleboard, skee ball, and mini basketball hoops.

If you’re in the Mission head to the Chapel which is opening up all three of its adjoining spaces (the Chapel, Vestry, and the Chapel bar) for one giant Super Bowl party. The game will be shown on a giant 24-foot screen. What’s on the menu? Special themed drinks and a menu of snacks that includes dirty bird wings with spicy Georgia peach chutney and hot lobster roll dip.

Saskia and Petra Bergstein, the sister owners of the Caviar Company, have announced plans to open a caviar shop and tasting room on Union Street. According to the Tablehopper, “visitors to the store will be able to ask questions and buy caviar and caviar-related items, like potato chips and mother-of-pearl spoons. The shop will stock their best sellers, like white sturgeon, local hackleback, spendier golden osetra, and smoked trout roe—perfect for your weekend brunch at home. Guests will also be able to pick up special orders at the shop, and their caviar club members will be greeted with a glass of Champagne.” We can’t wait to toast with the sisters in honor of this fantastic news!

Foreign Cinema’s owners Gayle Pirie and John Clark will open an unnamed wine bar next door to their popular Mission eatery. The restaurant’s wine director and general manager, Shannon Tucker, will be overseeing the bar, which will have a 15,000 bottle cellar. Expect it to open later this year.

Need a break from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco? Head to the Carneros Resort and Spa (formerly known as the Carneros Inn) for their first supper club event of the year. On February 3, chef Aaron Meneghelli invites guests to join him at 6 p.m. for a welcome reception with champagne, oysters, and caviar. Afterward every one will move into the hilltop dining room for an indulgent family-style dinner that features braised winter foods. Local chefs will converse with the chefs and Robert Sinsley Vineyards will be pouring the wine.
