New York Designer Reem Acra to Show in Paris for the First Time

Now here’s a designer popular on both sides of the political spectrum—Reem Acra. Her gorgeous gowns have been spotted on both Melania Trump (who wore a slinky gold sequin gown during Inauguration festivities) and Jill Biden (who chose a knock-out strapless red dress for her first inaugural gala in 2009). Hollywood luminaries like Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez are just a few of the celebs who wear the label too. Now the New York-based fashion house is upping its fashion profile even further. Reem Acra’s Fall/Winter 2017 presentation will move from New York to Paris for the upcoming collections season By showcasing the glamorous line in Paris, the house feels it will be better able to serve the international market, particularly the maison’s clients who are based in Europe and the Middle East, and its customers who don’t attend New York Fashion Week. 

Even with the new Paris platform, Reem Acra will very much remain a New York house, with the atelier and design studio based in the heart of Manhattan. Paris will now mark a center point for Acra’s global following, which  continues to grow rapidly. Showing in Paris allows the designer to broaden the exposure of her couture and eveningwear collections with European and Middle Eastern elites.
