Burberry and The Weinstein Company came together to host host a haute cocktail party in the penthouse of the Burberry Beverly Hills flagship store to honor British actor Dev Patel and his performance in the film, Lion.

 The event was attended by Patel, Saroo Brierley and Sunny Pawar all of whom wore Burberry to the event. Other attendees included Luke Davies, Chris O’Connor and BAFTA LA’s Chantal Rickards.

Patel is a versatile actor best known for his breakout role in the Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire. Since then, Patel has starred in critically praised features including The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and the sequel, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and most recently The Man Who Knew Infinity, opposite Jeremy Irons. Patel also starred on the small screen in the Aaron Sorkin, HBO drama Newsroom  Patel is currently in production in India on Hotel Mumbai about the terror attack at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in 2008.

The Weinstein Company film Lion is based on the harrowing true story of a young Indian boy who is separated from his family and eventually adopted to an Australian couple in Tasmania. The movie chronicles the persistence of its main character, Saroo, as a child destined to survive in the streets of India and then as an adult in a desperate search to reunite with his birth family in India over 25 years later. The film also stars Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara and directed by Australian filmmaker Garth Davis.
