Art Nexus Celebrates 40 Years with Blowout Basel Bash

Art Nexus, Latin America’s premier art publication and official art magazine partner of Art Basel | Miami Beach, celebrated its 40th anniversary blowout on the Friday of the fair. The event took place at Terra Group’s Eighty Seven Park by Renzo Piano sales center. The location’s winding entrance was lit with candles and sounds of the rain forrest leading guests to the publication’s exhibition “Four Decades: Latin American Art in ArtNexus,” which displayed works by artists who had been featured on the magazine’s covers over the years.

The sprawling center was packed to the gills with the “who’s who” of the international and Latin American art collectors, society and personalities including Christina Getty, Stacy Robins, Belkys Nerey, Eloy Carmenate, Sofia Joelsson, Elysze Held, Soledad and Justin Lowe, who enjoyed Champagne, drinks and dinner with delicacies including stone crab.

The party, thrown by Liaisons in conjunction with Terra Group, was the 15th annual party thrown by the mag and has taken place since the launch of Art Basel | Miami Beach. The event always takes place at the hottest spots in town, starting with the 2002 event with Gypsy Kings at La Piaggia. In 2008, they honored Philippe Stark at the Icon Brickell with HSBC and Related Group and the 2011 fête was at the brand-new Soho Beach House with Royal Bank of Canada.  The publication was launched in 1976 by Celia Sredni d Birbragher and maintains offices in both Miami and Bogota.
