‘Loving’ Star Alano Miller Shares His Haute Secrets to LA

Alano Miller is a man on the verge. You might recognize the Cuban, Bahamian and Jamaican Floridian from the small screen on WGN’s Underground and The CW’s Jane the Virgin, and you’ll definitely recognize him now on the big screen in the critically-acclaimed, early buzz Oscar contender Loving, the true story of an interracial couple sentenced to prison for getting married. Here, this 36-year-old actor shares his haute secrets to Los Angeles, the City of Angels.

Favorite Restaurant: SPACCA – Tomahawk Pork Chop! 
 
Best Sushi: Sushi Gen…The line is worth it.
 
Best Italian: Bestia – It means beast, which gives you your answer.

Best dessert: As a baker, it’s hard to find places to satisfy your sweet tooth but anything at Sweet Lady Jane is a win.
 
Best place for a romantic date: You can make any place romantic but if I had to choose…Providence is up there.
 
Best Sunday brunch: Marston’s – Corn flake crusted French Toast is unbelievable!
 
Best place for a power business meeting: SoHo house – Power suits, Power ties making Power moves.
 
If you have out of town guests, which hotel would you recommend?  Langham Huntington
 
Favorite shopping venue/boutique: That’s hard.  I love shopping for pieces to put together and that could be anywhere.
 
Favorite place to buy jewelry/watches: Honestly, I haven’t had enough experience with wearing jewelry and watches yet. 
 
Best Spa: The Springs is an awesome place.  Get your mind, body, and soul aligned there.
 
Favorite Charity Event:  American Cancer Society’s “A Taste of Hope”.  It’s in NYC though.
 
Favorite Cultural Event: I don’t have one in particular.  I love celebrating all cultures.  When I hear about an event, I just go. 
 
Favorite Cultural Institution: Right now the National Museum of African American History and Culture -Smithsonian is absolutely breathtaking, vibrant, and important.  Everyone needs to visit at least once in their lifetime.
 
Best Steakhouse: Alexander’s Steakhouse – Very rare cuts of beef and be sure to bring your car or house note with you for the bill. 
 
Best Pizza: The Luggage Room is the best pizza in LA hands down.
 
Best Lunch: Abricott…Spicy pork Burrito Thai style, so much goodness…it’s not right.
 
Best Gym/Athletic Facility: Pasadena Strength and Conditioning is a diamond in the rough. 
 
Best Massage: The Springs. 
 
Best Limousine/Driving Service: EmpireCLS
 
Best Museum/Exhibit: Huntington Library
 
Describe your city in three words: Trendsetter, Foodie, Traffic
 
Favorite historic/legendary place to see or explore: Huntington Library…  It’ll take days to explore.
 
All-around favorite spot in Los Angeles: Old Town Pasadena.  Good food, good vibe, good People.
 
Best Aspect of Los Angeles: You can live in LA for 20-30 years and still not know all about LA.  There is so much to explore.
