Inside Chris Martin and Coldplay’s Exclusive Concert in Amagansett
When Sirius XM announced in July that Coldplay would perform for them at a secret location, we started tracking Chris Martin’s photo ops like a hawk. In recent weeks there’s been an American concert tour, but also fun in the sun on the East End, so we weren’t that surprised (but thrilled just the same) that the clandestine venue was in Amagansett at the Stephen Talkhouse, not far from where Martin and ex Gwyneth have a summer home. (It was a busy weekend for the Martin/Paltrow clan with Gwyneth hosting the annual Hamptons Paddle & Party for Pink to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF)
The special invitation-only show aired live on SiriusXM’s The Spectrum channel. Coldplay performed songs from their 20-year career, including music from their new album A Head Full of Dreams. When the show was announced, Coldplay said (and we could hear the wink in this statement): “Someone just needs to tell us the secret location and we’ll be there.”
“We couldn’t be more excited that Coldplay, one of the most acclaimed bands working today, stepped away from its global tour playing stadiums and arenas to present an intimate event for SiriusXM at a special location,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer, SiriusXM. ”Our subscribers nationwide will hear a special show performed just for them from the band that has become one of the top artists in the world.”
Attendees at the concert included Jon Bon Jovi and Christie Brinkley. Jimmy Buffett manned the bar at the Talkhouse.
in addition to airing on The Spectrum, channel 28, the private performance was available through the SiriusXM app on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as online at siriusxm.com.
