Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM) presents another thrilling year with its 2016-2017 Broadway Season! In an exciting and bold move, the organization will partner with Performing Arts Fort Worth to co-present four titles in the coming year.

With tickets recently going on sale online, the two performing arts groups gear up to bring the very Best of Broadway to its loyal patrons across North Texas.

DSM is the leading presenter of Broadway theater in North Texas and as a 501(c)(3) non-profit relies on its patronage in order to produce, present and promote their musicals throughout the year. In addition to its many initiatives, they support youth in the community by providing affordable tickets and by creating unique educational community programs. DSM’s Seats for Kids program helps initiate an interest and appreciation in the performing arts for thousands of low income, at-risk and special needs children.

Their commitment to making the arts accessible for everyone does not stop there; since 2010 the DSM has made upgrades to its acoustical systems to better provide patrons with hearing impairments with an improvement on sound quality, which led to the first ever of its kind, the trademarked, Hear Us Now! This device with the aid of five listening technologies helps to provide clear and direct audio signals. In its newest initiative, DSM extends discounted rates to war veterans and their families in a humble attempt to thank them for their many sacrifices and loyal service.

Dallas Summer Musicals is presented by Texas Instruments and its season sponsors and partners The Dallas Morning News, WFAA TV Channel 8, American Airlines, and The Original Cupcakery.

The 2016-2017 Season will kick off with a traditional holiday favorite, BROADWAY CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND. The season will continue with the Tony Award®- winning Broadway hit AN AMERICAN IN PARIS; LET IT BE, a theatrical tribute to The Beatles; KINKY BOOTS, CIRCUS 1903 – THE GOLDEN AGE OF CIRCUS and closing the season will be the romantic thriller based on the iconic film; THE BODYGUARD, starring Grammy® nominee Deborah Cox!

In addition, DSM will present a series of season add-ons including, the beloved holiday favorite, RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSE REINDEER: THE MUSICAL; CHEERS LIVE ON STAGE highlighting the Emmy® Award-winning classic hit TV series; STOMP, the fabulously choreographed musical; and the magical return of THE ILLUSIONISTS.

In their exciting partnership with Performing Arts of Fort Worth they will present four titles including, RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER: THE MUSICAL; AN AMERICAN IN PARIS; LET IT BE; and THE BODYGUARD.

The Performing Arts of Fort Worth is the non profit organization that oversees the management of the Bass Performance Hall and is responsible for the programming of a series of events as well as the presentation of national Broadway Tours.

Privately funded, the Bass Performance Hall is the permanent home to some of Fort Worth’s most notable performing arts organizations including the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth Opera, and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Cliburn.

The mission of the founders, Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass has become a vital link in enhancing the quality and accessibility to culture for the general public in the Fort Worh, and Tarrant County regions.

Drawing inspiration from a European opera house, the 2,042-seat multipurpose Hall contains a dramatic 80-foot diameter Great Dome that is the focal point in the Founders Concert Theater, while the two 48-foot tall angels adorn the Grand Facade. Since the Hall opened its doors in May 1998, the angels have become well known cultural icons within the Dallas-Fort Worth community.

During the upcoming season, Performing Arts Fort Worth’s will present eight shows, six of which are making their Bass Hall debuts.

Kicking off the season in January, 2017, will be ANNIE a family classic returning to the Hall in an all-new production and closing out the season in November, 2017 will be IRVING BERLIN’S WHITE CHRISTMAS, another favorite that is coming back due to popular demand.

Between the opening and closing will be Broadway’s Tony Award-winning musical, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS; an ode to the Beatles, LET IT BE; MATILDA, THE BODYGUARD; BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL and the musical sensation RENT.

The upcoming year,  promises to be an exciting season for DSM and Performing Arts of Forth Worth as they look forward to continuing to share not only their love of the performing arts, but their tireless dedication in delivering only the very best in cultural experiences to their patrons.
